Kaizer Motaung Jnr scores twice against AmaZulu

Posted: 19 January 2011 Time: 21:15

Kaizer Chiefs redeemed themselves with a 3-1 victory over AmaZulu on Wednesday night at the FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi were coming off a defeat after losing to Ajax Cape Town last week, but made their intentions clear as early as the 12th minute. Kaizer Motaung Jnr was picked in the box with a pinpoint cross by Abia Nale and he needed no second invitations as he pounced on it and headed Chiefs into the lead, much to the delight of the Amakhosi faithful.

Usuthu struggled to get into gear for most of the half and it was Chiefs who dominated much of the possession and deservedly took a 2-0 lead 11 minutes from the break.

Skipper Jimmy Tau delivered a fantastic cross from the right in the 36th minute and Motaung Jnr’s excellent diving header handed the Phefeni Glamour Boys a comfortable lead – a goal that goes some distance into silencing the striker’s critics.

Chiefs were not done in this half though, as Knowledge Musona hit the post with a low shot on the stroke of half-time.

Motaung Jnr had to make way for Sthembiso Ngcobo at half-time after he sustained an injury, much to the disappointment of the fans who had witnessed two great goals from the boss’ son.

AmaZulu looked a better side after the break, but there were no decent chances for either side.

However, the crowd eventually got on its feet though when Stanton Lewis, who signed from Ajax Cape Town on loan, made his debut, coming in for Abia Nale in the 78th minute.

But it was AmaZulu that got back into the match. Namibian midfielder-cum-striker Tangeni Shipahu beat Itumeleng Khune from about six yards to set up an exciting finish.

Chiefs though, hit back immediately. Jimmy Jambo blasted a long-range shot to beat Nhlanhla Khuzwayo with a long-range shot to all but seal it for Chiefs.

Our haters say we won't win the league because we only massacre Chibuku FC and Sunkak FC. We have 29 points on the log. Now my question is if we only win against our two whipping boys where do the 26 points come from ?

The first goal is a clear offside and the third goal is anfair play coz the opponents thought that Jambo was going to kick the ball out hence they stopped playing.

well Junior is not the best skillfull player, we know that, meaning we don't need you the chiefs haters to rub it on. at chiefs we accept his weaknesses and we'll help to regain his form, unlike other team that i wont mention where a player lost his form and they fail to help the player regain it n they resort to suspend the player, siis. in short you guys are jealous

A Good win for Amakhosi.Jambo's goal was legitimate. It was up to him wether to kick the ball out or try take a shot at goal after realising that the keeper was far from goals. The referee would have stopped play even without Jambo having to kick the ball out of play if it was a serious or head injury but it was just muscle pull which is caused by someone running more than he trains.Halala Chiefs, jelous down

The race is on. Well done Khosi. Thanks to KJnr for his brace. We played well in the 1st half, dominated every position, but we came back in the second half relaxed and we almost got punished. Like I said, the more goals we score the better. AS things look currently, goal difference will be crucial.

Again Well Done....On To The Next One...

Offside which one my autie? But is you right to say what you saw.

Guys why did Chiefs and Pirates fight so hard for that Mthembu boy. Still today i don't know why.The guy is passenger in the bus nothing more or less. That guy he miss the ball alone not even forcing a keeper to make save.

Chiefs game i only saw the highlite i can't say anything. Pirates win but what a boring game. Sundown draw a boring game as well only Cale play nice on their squad.
