Santos hold Orlando Pirates to a 0-0 draw

Posted: 15 January 2011 Time: 22:11

Orlando Pirates remain in fourth place in the Absa Premiership after being held to a 0-0 draw by Santos at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Buccaneers have only themselves to blame after missing some great scoring opportunities, and the visitors will be satisfied with having picked up a point.

The first chance of the game fell to Santos, when Salmaan King raced clear on a counter-attack, but the usually reliable midfielder lost his composure and sliced his shot wide.

Pirates’ Phenyo Mongala almost beat Tshepo Motsoeneng at his near post with a neat turn and shot from the edge of the box, but the ball flashed just the wrong side of the upright.

Pirates had the greater share of possession but struggled to make it count. Isaac Chansa did have a one-on-one chance just before the break, but Motsoeneng came off his line quickly, rushed the Pirates attacker and blocked his shot.

The second half was much the same as the first, with Pirates generally dominating possession but failing to find a way to pierce the Santos defence.

In the 77th minute, Motsoeneng spilled a free-kick from substitute Patrick Malokase, but he did well to knock away the loose ball before onrushing attackers could punish him.

Another Bucs sub, Mark Mayambela, should have won the game for the Soweto side in the 84th minute but, after meeting Tlou Segolela’s unselfish pull-back just a few metres out from goal, he somehow spooned his effort over the target.

Why I'm not surprised by the final score, a goaless draw? Because Skrol does not have plan B

2nd minut Ngobeni gave the ball away that should have resulted in a goal, he plays side ways and back wards, he slows the ball down and OP play quick one-two's, since he's getting the first 11 selection, count the games we winning!

Motlokoa is the only Chibuku fan with brains.unlike the other idiots who are happy wen de useless team win by luck and blame kraal evry tym the team loses or draws. Chibuku won many games by luck n de stupid fans rejoiced n said they gonna win de lid. You won against maritzburg, celtic, suppersport by sheer luck. Swallows gave u 2 goals on a platter. You say u team is a galaxy of stars but still evry tym things go bad kraal is to blame. Voetsek

What a black peaceful weekend for the Kaizer ZimCabbages!!

Orlando Ajax 1 - Kaizer ZimCabbages 0
Orlando Sundowns 3 - Kaizer United 0
Orlando Pirates 0 - Kaizer Santos 0

He he he he he!!!! They are so disparate they are now celebrating the draw. One point is better than no point at all.

Its the combination of lack of luck and the clueless coach that cost us two points. We were missing a lot of players due to injuries and flu. Some team next door at Bulawayo, everytime they miss the one legged cow they lose, he he he he!!!!!
