Mamelodi Sundowns beat Golden Arrows

Posted: 11 December 2010 Time: 17:26

Mamelodi Sundowns came from a goal down to beat Golden Arrows 3-1 at Chatsworth on Saturday afternoon.

After a sluggish start, Arrows brought the game to life with a bang in the ninth minute. A wonderful passing move that started deep in their own half ended with Moon cracking a shot past Wayne Sandilands from the edge of the box.

But Arrows’ defence looked ill at ease and it seemed a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ Sundowns would find the back of the net.

And just before the midway point of the first half the Brazilians made it 1-1, with Mokoena getting ahead of Mzuvukile Tom to volley home Innocent Mdledle’s floated ball in between the backline and goalkeeper Helton da Rocha.

Sundowns looked comfortably the better team in the conditions and began to boss the match.

Five minutes before the break they were rewarded for their superiority when Mokoena scored his second, tapping in at the far post after Franklin Cale’s corner travelled through the six-yard box almost untouched.

Arrows coach Zoran Filipovic looked to shuffle his pack in the early stages of the first half, yet Arrows never really looked like threatening and any hopes they had of making a comeback were effectively ended with 13 minutes to play when defender Josephs Musonda was shown a straight red card for a studs-up challenge on Thapelo Tshilo.

Arrows did have a great chance late on to bring themselves level, but Sandilands made a superb save to deny Tom in a one-on-one situation. The Brazilians then punished the hosts for their miss when Khenyeza netted the third goal in the 88th minute, wrapping up the points for the Tshwane team.

Actually when I came with this Slogan" Catch us if u can" under the username Sundowner Classics on comments space of kickoff. I was watching a movie before that game where we beat Supersport. The name of the movie was called "Catch me if you can". This guy was so clever that not even The FBI in America could catch him. So he kept sending them a message saying catch me if you can and they were trying everything to catch the guy but they couldn't until they recruit him to come and work for the FBI as an agreement with him that they will not arrest him. He was just too smart and he he joined the FBI to help them solve difficult cases. So the same applies to Sundowns, Its operation Catch us if you can. And whoever cannot beat us must join us on the speedtrain running with the PSL Trophy. Guys, lets popularise this Slogan until it gets into Chloorkop camp to motivate those guys so that they will never let any team catch us. I am telling you it works, those guys will play their bones, muscles and their strategic brains out to make sure no one catches us until we lift the Trophy on May 2011. Its Operation "Catch us if you can" time, Shappa Sundowner Shappa!!
