Katlego Mphela wins it for Sundowns

Posted: 22 September 2010 Time: 21:48

Mamelodi Sundowns continued their impressive start to the season with a 1-0 win over Santos on Wednesday night.

The Tshwane side were in control throughout the game against a Santos’ side whose priority much of the match was not to concede – they did not show too much attacking ambition in the first half especially.

They did have an early chance, but Sekou Camara was unable to profit from an Erwin Isaacs cross due to an untidy bit of control.

But Sundowns also had their opportunities early on as Tshepo Motsoeneng was forced to tip efforts from Katlego Mphela and Mathew Pattison over the bar.

Following that early flurry there was not much action as the Peoples’ Team remained solid in defence and frustrated all of Sundowns’ attacking forays.

But just before the break the Brazilians finally broke through when Katlego Mphela unleashed a grass-cutter from the edge of the area after creating space for himself.

Santos failed to really take the game to Sundowns after the break, despite needing to equalise.

As the game moved into the last 15 minutes it was Sundowns who had the better chances to score as Surprise Moriri and Mphela dragged efforts wide, while Franklin Cale was unable to score with only Motsoeneng to beat from close range, the keeper making a good save.

Santos ended the game with 10 men after Buitemelo Mafoko received a second booking.

Hehehe, it must be a very miserable, disgusting & very long breakfast at the kickoff & soccerladuma offices this morning. The team they hate the most after Pirates, the team they rubbish at every chance is actually stronger than they have ever thought possible.
Sundowns must brace themselves for even more damaging news from these evil publications before their next game.
Battle lines have been drawn.

One question to Sundowns fans.

Why is Shongwe from Paktawana not promoted? Yo! the boy is going to a big star in SA.

Sundowns fans, please and please call for this boy in your first team. He is better than Pelembe. How i so wish Shongwe could join OP.

I'm not challenging or rubbishing your opinion, but I would like to differ as far as Pattison, he did have two hot short that burnt the goalie gloves and that was it... how many of his passes went astray, how many times did he sleep on the ball and lost it, how many balls did he pass behind Mdledle just when he is trying to initiate attack, how many times does this boy passes the ball forward as compared to backwards, KANTI YINI NGALELIGCAGCA????

He won't make it to BB mark my words. "THE MOST COMMITTED PLAYER = R 100 000 AWARD" I have never had of an award like that, every player in should have got that award, why this boxer??? Sorry Masadawan'...

Kuyofiwa baba, kuyoshunqa uthuli. I am warning Sundowns. Sunday we celebrating the last day of Kroll in office, not the win against KC.

I decided to convert my Java application into a C# application bcos my clients want
the software as soon as possible, so I decided to use Microsoft visual C# which falls under
Rapid Application Development (RAD).
So I promise that the software will be ready by the end of October.
I’m done with database (design and modeling) AND (System A.n.alysis and Design).
No I need to go to the coding environment.

"Sho Masandawan'. Sihlel' phezulu, sibabhekela phansi".....hehehe Busani

"KANTI YINI NGALELIGCAGCA"....Wonder please interfer, please teach Busani how to criticise constructively. The team won, the last thing you need is a fan insulting one of his own and even go as far as saying he will never play for Bafana Bafana. He eve marked his words, Ukusongela enye indoda nje lokhu.

What is amazing and motivational about Sundowns now, is consistency in terms of wins, Once they win 10 games, they will start believing in lifting the trophy.
