Arrows let Chiefs off the hook

Posted: 9 February 2010 Time: 21:46

By not taking their chances Golden Arrows have allowed Kaizer Chiefs to leave Durban with a point.

The Golden Arrows camp will feel rather aggrieved at being held to a goalless draw at the Moses Mabhida Stadium tonight, especially after wasting numerous chances in the second half.

The point severely dents Arrows chances of making the MTN8, the competition that they won earlier this season.

For Chiefs, the result effectively ends their chances of bagging the league title. They now have 44 points with three matches left to play and it would take a miracle for them to claim the title from this position – especially considering SuperSport United won their match tonight.

After a dour opening 20 minutes of play in the first half, Arrows Njabulo Manqana rifled in a powerful low drive which Chiefs keeper Arthur Bartman grabbed at the second attempt. Seconds later, Knowledge Musona skipped clear from Arrows defence when he collected a poor Thanduyise Khuboni defensive clearance, but Arrows keeper Thulasizwe Khuzwayo came off his line quickly to deny the Zimbabwean striker.

Arrows midfielder Lindokhule Bengu broke down the right flank and sent in a low cross into the Chiefs danger area but Ntlantla Zothwane miscued his strike.

Chiefs' striker Musona rattled the Arrows upright a few minutes before the interval with a well struck shot.

Arrows should have had a handsome advantage had Thokozani Mshengu not been wasteful with the three clear-cut opportunities that came his way in the space of five minutes, minutes after the break.

Midfielder Zothwane tested the reflexes of Bartman in the 58th when he got onto the end of a threaded ball from Mzivukile Tom, but the keeper did enough to avert the danger.

Chiefs only effort on target in the second half came when Musonda made good contact with a strike from 20 metres out that required Khuzwayo to tip over his crossbar. Siyabonga Sangweni got a decisive touch when Abia Nale was bearing down on the Arrows goals in the 75th minute.

Richard Henyekane failed to make contact with a header when he had the Chiefs goals at his mercy a minute later, Thamsanqa Gabuza picked him out with an accurate cross.

The last chance of the match fell to Zothwane with four minutes remaining. Joseph Musonda launched a long throw which Gabuza flicked into the path of the midfielder.

Even if we won our last three games it was still going to be difficult winning the league because SSU is also not dropping points.

And to sunflopers, don't forget that SSU is 6 pts ahead and u only have "potential" 6 pts on hand.
By the way, since Chiefs is busy collecting "plastic trophies", how many trophies including plastic, sand, metal or even fabric trophies have sunflops won in the past three seasons?

Fun Continues at Natulawayo...as the coach continues to tell his players what they really are...
VV: With regards to not fielding those players in particular, coach Vladimir Vermezovic said: “I wasn’t satisfied with their recent performances therefore, I didn’t use them. I realise that it might be difficult for them to focus, they must be thinking about making the about the camp in Brazil and making the Bafana World Cup squad.

“But they must be professional and should know how they got to Bafana Bafana side. They got there because of Chiefs, so they must continue to perform for the club. The game is played on the field and not in the newspapers," added Vermezovic

Lona ma sunflops, just dont get ahead of yourself here. You have games whilst SS have points. As far as i am concerned, you might still end the lague with nothing and perhaps a position 2 if you lucky. santos is waiting for you, phela those kleurlinges have the beating of sunflops. We lost the league when we strated, a team that lost so many games, especially home games, does not deserve to win the league. Otherwise then our league will be the worst, let teams that know how to win, teams that have players that know how to soldier on against any adversity, win it. I am Khosi 4 life and am so disppointed that my team has lost that winning touch, that winning mentality. Hail Supersport, Hail the champions.

Kali is the Chiefs Financial Controller and now Stonza is a Chiefs Team manager. Maybe you are better than Bobby Stonza. Congrats. Stonny man in your new job. Name those seven and those that bought the identities to be SA's so that they can be identified as SA citizens.

Glen Salmon: 'these cheaps players think that they are stars, they came to the pitch as if they are the best: but after we walloped them, shame their heads were down' unquote: Chiefs and Pirates are one of the famous teams (hence their support base) so it was inevitable for the disadvantaged South Africa then that psychologically more than 80 percent of the black group suffered from the variety or options to be precise...these teams then had an advantage of growing from the apartheid regime but since the removal of the sanctions, the after 1994 regime, the transformation regime, the new era, the bee era, the paper chase error (now sihlanganisa i paper njenge stapler),,,the standard of the league has changed,,,,apparently those who managed to adapt to change are doing okay if not better,,,and these teams have lost it in the new times....The Pretoria Cup has been an obvious conclusion of this,,,,who ever thought that Chiefs and Pirates fans would actually be second best and baqashe ku Supersports and Sundowns, respectively....Guys it's time you start a petition or organise a meeting with your management, then air your views regarding the Fall of The Soweto Giants...first it was Jomo Cosmos, then Moroka Swallows, Orlando Pirates and now it's Phefeni Eleven..Supersports and Sundowns representing South Africa in the Caf...Egypt here we come......Shapa The New Era Giants Shapa...by the way who will watch the Soweto Derby...is it worth it...maybe it should be a curtain raiser in one of the last games...

I don't watch Chiefs games anymore due to the following.

1. They like to win with Votes because SA is a democratic country.
2. They bribe match officials.
3. They like free players
4. They claim to be South African citizens whilest Zimbabweans.
5. They sign players looking exactly like pythons.( i.e Letsholonnywana)
6. 80% of their supporters are gays (i.e Thabang, Sibusiso, Brokefan, Pearl, Franco and the list is endless.

Stonza should have seen that coming. What you are doing is not fair. You stole Stonza away from his first loverboy King only to dump him 4 days to Valantine? That's why I will never be gay. Gay relationships are full of lies and cheats. I'd rather dig minicipality graves than be gay. By the way did the doctors manage to remove that axe you put in your skull while trying to do Teko Modise's hair-style?
