SuperSport close in on third title

SuperSport United gave Gavin Hunt a first win, 2-1, over Santos as their coach on Tuesday night.

SuperSport United’s title race remains on track following a hard-earned win over Santos at the Athlone Stadium.

The game ignited after 10 minutes when a superb move involving Brent Carelse, Daine Klate and Anthony Laffor saw the Liberian’s header tipped over the bar.

And from Jabu Maluleke’s 11th minute corner, United found themselves in front as Ricardo Katza netted with a header.

The champions were 2-0 up in the 30th minute as some uncertainty from Tshepo Motsoeneng allowed Dario Monteiro to convert a simple chance.

Santos looked dead and buried at that stage but they came back to hit the woodwork through Graham King’s 36th minute effort before scoring in the 39th minute as Tyren Arendse tapped home Phikolethu Spelman’s cross.

It took a while for second half action to heat up as United tried to slow the game down.

It was certainly Santos who ended the match the stronger side, having chances through King, Spelman and a late header by Musa Otieno, but United survived to take the points despite having Letladi Madubanya sent off in the 75th minute.

It's really sad man. Imagine if club bosses read the posts here, Mr. Motaung would be like "Damn, my fans are prostitutes!".

New Chiefs Motto: "If you can't beat them, hate them".
Sundowns embarrassed Cheaps and the referee, and now Cheaps fans hate Sundowns. There is a psychological theory on this. Wait, let me check what it says....

Not having what you think you should have. Breeds intense hatred towards the object seen as having deprived one of desired object.
Chiefs used to have glamour until Sundowns came. Logically, Chiefs fans hate Sundowns. Hmmm, makes sense....

Dam SSU are making it difficult for us. They inhibit signs of a Championship winning team (UNLIKE SOME "BIG TEAMS"). Hmm... After the emergence of Tshwane Greats and the Pretoria Soccer League they became true to their names and remained SOWETO GIANTS.

Thank heavens they can hold on to that feeble memory they call a Derby.

Fun Continues at Natulawayo...as the coach continues to tell his players what they really are...
VV: With regards to not fielding those players in particular, coach Vladimir Vermezovic said: “I wasn’t satisfied with their recent performances therefore, I didn’t use them. I realise that it might be difficult for them to focus, they must be thinking about making the about the camp in Brazil and making the Bafana World Cup squad.

“But they must be professional and should know how they got to Bafana Bafana side. They got there because of Chiefs, so they must continue to perform for the club. The game is played on the field and not in the newspapers," added Vermezovic

"Chiefs used to have glamour until Sundowns came."

Dude, stop reading a dictionary and get your facts right before you embarrass yourself with your ignorant comments. Your CIRCUS club was founded in 1960, years before CHIEFS came.

STONZA, fair point budd; but it's nonsense of KALI to say CHIEFS were glamorous before Sundowns came, CHIEFS and SUNDOWNS started in more or less the same era.

As for CIRCUS being the most successful team the history of PSL, my man JUST only 2 years ago the league title became the most priced PSL trophy and again PSL is not only about the league trophy.

Your CIRCUS have only won 1/3 of all official trophies that CHIEFS won since PSL started

Fact Vs Truth: Chiefs and Pirates fans may for now convince themselves that if Supersports wins the league for the third time in a row,,,that will bring them at least a bit of peace...but I would like to take this moment (precious time) and congratulate the improvement on the Pretoria Kings...Supersports yet so close but yet too far from taking it (The Pretoria Cup) in three years, consecutively: looking at this from a close angle...the so called Giants of S.A football have been forced to chose between their haterz...what a shame yesterday when my friend was excited that Supersport won against Santos and contractly his team drew...away from home rather their home game (since they decide to take the games to the people of South Africa) next game might be in Eastern Cape since Durban has only bad memories for them....Mamelodi Sundowns were noticed just before the start of the second round...favourite to win the Pretoria Cup were of course the Soweto giants, Ajax and Wits...no one would even want to suggest Sundowns,,,you know what they say..becareful what you wish for..I still recall haterz saying we only qualify for the Super 14....hehehehehehe (Professor's laughter)...we are not actually being moved by the fact that we are sitting at number two,,,but ONE..we made it against the odds, TWO,,Downs has made us proud (the type of football our players are dishing out), THREE,,we gave them (ya so called favourite teams..CONVINCINGLY)...the list is endless but for me: Going back to Caf is just a highlight of this 2009/2010 season: THE SKY IS THE LIMIT..HATE IT OR LOVE IT...Chiefs and Pirates can join Supersports fans and support them...COS Frankly speaking they all lost points kuthina...Shapa Sundowns Shapa...We whipped ya black assers.....HATERZ....ADMIT IT OR DENY IT....

Long time dude...People were asking about your whereabouts. Some claiming you disappeared into Nanana Ntombela’s night club in Chloorkop blaming it on the strong Chibuku beer made in that club. I am happy to see that you are back. Have been reading your recent comments and see that you are still the same old G, factual and loyal to the brand of Mamelodi. We have been missing your expertise. Kali has been busy feeding us garbage as always. We hope you stay forever in our beloved forum.
