Mmotong goal settles it

Posted: 16 December 2009 Time: 21:22

A rare start and a rare goal for Koketso Mmotong gave Mamelodi Sundowns a win over Maritzburg United.

Mmotong put Sundowns ahead after just seven minutes. He got on the end of a Katlego Mphela pass to slot home.

But Sundowns were guilty of missing several chances in the first half and lacked their usual composure in front of goal.

Benedict Vilakazi replaced goalscorer Mmotong in the second half and Sundowns pushed hard for more goals.

But Mabhuti Khenyeza missed a really good opportunity, which summed up Downs' struggle in and around the goal area.

Had it not been for Brian Baloyi's save from Rudolf Bester, The Brazilians may have been in trouble.

The visitors, who are looking far more organised under new coach Ernst Middendorp, had their share of chances, but could not get past Baloyi.

Sundowns play Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday while Maritzburg United host Moroka Swallows on Sunday.

I listened to those Cheaps imbongis (Precious and Theodolphes) on Marara show (SS4) on monday...putting their heads on the block that SSU will win it.Any sober human being knows that a 9 point lead with 8/9/10 games to go is no guarantee.Only 1 wednesday things have changed so much. I must state thou that its either SSU or Downs.Period.Others are just pretending!!! Shapa Downs shapa.

Of all the teams competing for the league title, Sundowns is the only team that still has its faith firmly within it. we're the only team in the top 4 that still has to play the other 3 teams in that group. we still have to play
number1, SSU
Number3, Santos
Number4, Chiefs.

If we collect maximum points in these 3 games, then we're definately home, safe and dry. lets go for it Masandawana, it reminds me of the times when Gordon was still our coach and we beat the 3 Soweto teams in a space of 7 days marching on to the league title, 44 passes and all. i hope for the repeat of that perfomance from the boys....!!!!!

a game in hand is not equivalent to a point but i am telling you that with a goodside like Mamelodi Sundowns and their unbelievable techniacal side we will deinately utilise this game in hand , Remember we shouldnt have had this game in hand. we were winning agaist Santos and Mother Nature disrupted our Victory

Pearl i feel sorry 4 Kaizer Bobby Fc

Sundowns will take what? I am on holidays and having enough fun already. The amusement I am having is enough, do not add to my fun by mentioning things like Downs winning the league. You will have me killed by laughter…Are you guys saying Downs will beat Chiefs and SSU respectively? Hehehehehe…Wonder my friend forget about this one. The sooner you make peace with it the better.

A goodside with a good technical team is capable of being beaten which is what we saw with Arrows n SSU yesterday..so u really cant rely on ur good side and technical team..its a crucial point in the season, lowly teams looking 2 survive the chop, big teams looking 2 get the honours, we will see who the game in hand will benefit! remember Santos is also looking 2 prove that they number 2 by no fluke

The reality is that a game in hand is not 3 points. It is better for those who played their 22nd game coz they know the results.

Although Killer is the leading scorer but I feel he is also the leading culprit followed by Mabuti when it comes to wasting good scoring chnces. Having said all that...I can't ask for a better win than that against chimps on sat...

Ok before you say this is being ambitous again......look man as things are now, its hard to say considering the form sundowns and chiefs have recently. SSP on the other hand are just...i mean just getting the results but its not convincing.

But I hope chiefs win the league.....AND WHO DO YOU THINK WILL????

Do u agree with Soccer Analysts' report that there is basically no difference between Killer and Jackie Ledwaba?
