SuperSport break Chiefs hearts

Posted: 25 November 2009 Time: 21:45

SuperSport United produced a sterling second half performance to beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 at the Loftus Stadium.

The first half was a dreary affair and fans were frustrated as the star men in either team came off injured. First it was Kaizer Motaung Junior who replaced Knowledge Musona, who came off in the ninth minute after initially coming off for treatment on his knee.

He was soon followed by Siyabonga Nkosi, who was replaced by Jabulani Maluleke, who later on became the thorn in Chiefs’ defence.

The two teams applied cautious tactics for the better part of the first half. It was only late in the half that the game produced its best chance.

In the 33rd minute, Chiefs striker Nkosinathi Nhleko received a great through ball from Motaung Junior in the box, but with Emille Baron to beat in SuperSport’s goal, Nhleko took a tame shot and the former Chiefs keeper was alert as he used his left hand to block the ball, but it fell kindly to Siphiwe Tshabalala, but the latter dilly-dallied and Baron blocked his way.

The second half started on a low note and things went from bad to worse as the lights went off temporarily, but as soon as they were back on, SuperSport looked like a team that had used the break more cleverly.

Abia Nale, who had come in for Tshabalala, could have put Chiefs in the lead in the 61st minute, but his low shot was blocked by the in-form Baron, who was named man of the match.

However, soon after that it was SuperSport dictating terms. Matsatsantsa took the lead in the 66th minute through Glen Salmon, who had received a perfect cross from Maluleke. Salmon used his thigh to sneak in the ball.

Three minutes later, it was Maluleke who was celebrating. He received a brilliant defence-splitting pass from Anthony Laffor and he controlled, then smashed it to Bartman’s right.

Though Vladimir Vermezovic made another change when he brought in Mthokozisi Yende for Josta Dladla late in the second half, it was clear Matsatsantsa were in the driving seat and deservedly walked away with the three points.

This one was too obvious i even predicted a 3-1 scoreline. The onlh suprise of the evening was Downs and Bucs game. Sibusiso i did indicate yesterday that KC will be beaten, reason being that there is a tactician in SSU.

Lets face it SSU is the best team at the moment and they seem unstoppable. Blame, laugh and tease KC at your own peril, whichever team that will play SSU is in trouble including my Pirates.

NOT a bad loser, and congrats to SSU as a TEAM.

I am not disappointed with our loose to SSU because I expected it. Thomas MADIGAGE and his ZION water and Chief LEKGANYANE is what BB need to succed in 2010 WC; we will play KAK but might end up lifting the WC trophy.

if kc are serious about winning they must bring in strikers(rodgers & henyekani)out {nhleko & junior} midfield in (ngobeni & nkosi) out {sibeko & zwane yeszwane} defenders in {sangweni & madidilane} out {domza, rooi & tau} new kc going places and new captain nengo assisted by sangweni. coach vv is still the best.done. boby do something kc is the best and should buy the best not rejects like nhleko.

Ye ke ke ke ke, the Motaung are stressing after Ace Ncobo threatened to "spill the beans", last night's referee refused to take itshotsho. Bob tried but failed to convince the referee, they were on their own and thats what happens when KC don't have a helping hand from the ref. ye ke ke ke ke ....

I see local coaches always do well against Chiefs. I wonder if this has anything to do with what Kaizer said about them.

Maybe it is time you come out publicly and take your words back, Mr Motaung. It is never too late.

Guys, Ithink instead of bashing Chiefs you should be giving credit to SSU. Chiefs hasn't been playing badly lately. Last night they only lost cause they were faced with the power house, super power team. Finish and Klaar.

IN FACT CHIEFS DID NOT WIN AGAINST SANTOS LAST WEEK UP UNTIL THE REF GAVE THEM THE POINTS, THERE WAS NO WAY THAT THEY WERE GOIN TO BEAT SUPERSPORT, U DONT WIN BY FLUKES AGAINST TEAMS LIKE SUPERSPORT AND PLS PEOPLE LET US NOT FOOL OURSELVES HERE, THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT A TEAM LIKE CHIEFS CAN WIN THE LEAGUE TROPHY

Acurate passing makes a difference if modern football, KC does not have that at all. Their midfielders lose ball in dangerous areas and do a little to create chances for strikers to finish. As for their defenders, blame it on Mushin, he destroyed the rock-solid deffence of KC without having plan B. As for VV, he should consider using Masango, Molekwane and Lebese a lot more, with confidence they can do wonders. Goodbye Batman and welcome Khune
