Chiefs fight back in 6-goal thriller

Posted: 4 November 2009 Time: 21:46

Kaizer Chiefs fought back for a point against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Wednesday.

The goals were scored by Knowledge Musona (brace) and Siphiwe Tshabalala for Chiefs, and Esau Mtsweni, Clifford Mulenga and Mpho Maleka for Aces.

Tshabalala's brilliant goal deep into injury time gave Chiefs a share of the spoils, in a game in which their slack defending almost saw them suffer their sixth defeat of the season.

Aces looked exciting at the start, and they pushed Chiefs to defend with their backs against the wall, with Clifford Mulenga, especially, causing problems for the visitors.

Aces were rewarded for their adventurous play with the opening goal in the 13th minute, when Lehumo Itshegetseng supplied Essau Mtshweni with a defence-splitting pass to the right wing, and the former Wits University midfielder unleashed a thunderous shot past hapless Chiefs goalkeeper Arthur Bartman.

However, their lead was short-lived as Chiefs drew level three minutes later when David Mathebula released Knowledge Musona with a good pass and the Zimbabwean striker beat Aces goalkeeper Thomas Richter with a low shot, despite attention from Aces captain and defender Felix Musasa.

Mulenga scored in the 29th minute as he found himself unmarked in a dangerous position and sent a long-range effort past Bartman for his fifth of the season.

As Chiefs' defence went to sleep again, defender Sepeke Manamela was allowed space to take a shot on the edge of the box that fell on the path of Mpho Maleka, who beat Bartman for his first goal of the season in the 36th minute.

Chiefs came out for the second half more lively, and were rewarded in the 55th minute when Musona registered his brace with a low shot, as he once again got the better of Musasa.

Chiefs pressed for the equaliser, with Abia Nale and Nkosinathi Nhleko coming close, but it was Tshabalala who, in the final moment, whacked a free-kick home in the 93th minute to break the hearts of Aces supporters.

Imagine if Torrealba would be on form, Yende get his footing, Nhleko be injury free, Motaung get his confidence and arrogance back, Musona enjoy more game time, Tshabalala continue with this kind of form, Masango re-appear from wherever he is hiding, Nale be on top form, Khune come back, Tau and Rooi work together, Sweswe stop being rude, Zwane rested, Matle and Masenamela get more game time, Tlou and Mbooi. G

In short, we have a gem of a squad, do not be surprised if we win the league this season. Good coach plus good squad equals winning squad

I see all the three little babies are sleeping now Sibusiso, Thabang and Brokefan. No wait... they are abusing the company resources hence they can't spew shit now. Die groot baas gaan hulle weg jag if he finds out abt their little adventure bcos they have nothing really exciting happening in their lives than come here and shows how small their pea like brains are. But don't worry bafanas you are all still kickoff family like Mugabe said you don't throw away the family idiot. Learn to live with and show tolerance. Unlucky LeKhosi but up and up Sandawana.

Hey i wonder where is Sibusiso, Thabang and Brokenfan, majita lets face it your team is mediocre at the moment. Had it not been Aces's defensive mentality in the last five minutes Chiefs would have been buried.

I remember watching Chiefs in the 80's and early 90's one would have goose-bumps, however things have drastically changed they are just ordinary team. I'm sure Cosmos can play this overrated team anytime. As for Musona he is a gem i was really marvelled at watching him and Mulenga deadly strikers.

Oh! You are still loaded,,, Mbesuma, Zuma as well as Gaxa were Chips targerts which they were beaten to the bid by yours truly.

They could have easily been Chimps last season, but we all know what talks and what walks...

So try another angle, position or stance it might work! This time you should look out for finger fatigue! lol!

Lastly Michael..... Downs are not in it for the money..... But the brand of diski only they can play.

Downs gives away all their winnings to the players and tech. staff to prove my point.... Anyway the league honours can settle Pele`s package only.

Mh! I must agree though it sounds absurd but unfortunately true!

Downs are there for those that love and appreciate idiski lamampela, hhayi i fraud ne corruption! lol x 100!

Michael learn from the three foolish men (Thabang, BrokeFan and SIBUSISO) and just read our comments before you embarrass yourself
