Sundowns on the rise

Posted: 21 October 2009 Time: 22:20

Mamelodi Sundowns continued their resurgence with a 2-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Mabhuti Khenyeza and Felix Katongo scored for the Brazilians, who have now moved into the tope eight.

Sundowns scored after just 14 minutes when Mabhuti Khenyeza powered home a low shot that went through the legs of Johannes Mothlaping on its way into the empty net for his fourth League goal of the season.

With the supporters playing their part on the stands, Celtic players reacted to the goal with two attacks through Tlou Segolela and Excellent Walaza, but their efforts did not trouble Brian Baloyi.

A few minutes after restart, Katlego Mphela was denied his 10th goal of the season by goalkeeper Tignyemb after connecting with a clean and low cross from midfielder Elias Pelembe.

Celtic showed much improvement in the second half with chances from Segolela and Patrick Malokase, but they went for wrong options from good positions and some of shots could not find the target.

Mphela had a few chances saved by Tignyemb in the closing stages, but substitute striker Felix Katongo enjoyed the final flourish as he rounded off the Celtic defence to put this contest to rest with his first goal for Sundowns.

Thanks to Sandawana and the coach.
I agree with you Ezekiel as much as we have won but we can't afford to loose a player like Robyn because of coach preferences!

Look at what happened to Lerato and Sherpard, those were some of our best players but lost due to favouritism. As much we have other players but nothing justifies loosing a good player and be in want the following season.

The management needs to intervene in these issues!

When the team was struggling to get wins, i said lets give this coach a chance because in him, i see a Sundowns legend in the making. people read too much soccer laduma and think they can analyse the game, Sundowns is still gonna get better. i do not believe that we've hit top gear yet and when we do, i'm afraid bana...!!!!!

Congrats to you and your SunMoolas. You must win the league and a few cups and upgrade your training facilities and start running this CIRCUS you call a soccer club like a professional soccer club. For now you still have a long way to go before you can be pronounced a professional soccer club.

Guys let all the players fight for their positions...those that want to do so in the media houses, shame on them. Mere is not playing. Is he making noise ? NO. There is just so much quality in the team and all players know that. We still have Chabangu and Moriri still to come.

We seem to have picked up at the right time.Well done boys.
