Valuable win for Chiefs

Posted: 15 September 2009 Time: 21:30

Siphiwe Tshabalala's retaken penalty is enough to give Kaizer Chiefs a precious 1-0 win over Platinum Stars

It was all Platinum Stars in the first half as Chiefs failed to test Wayne Sandilands at all.

Stars had their chances and really should have been two or three goals up at the break.

Almiro Lobo hit the crossbar in a fantastic move involving Alton Meiring and Tsepo Ramokala.

Lobo missed another good chance and Meiring forced two saves out of Arthur Bartman.

Then against the run of play Chiefs scored the opener.

Tshabalala won himself a penalty when he took cleverly on George Mofokeng inside the area, and the big defender made a clumsy challenge.

'Shabba' scored, but had to retake his spot kick and scored again, going the same way as his first strike.

But just before the penalty, Steve Komphela felt that Tshabalala had fouled Stanley Kgatla on route to the penalty area.

A furious Steve Komphela continued to complain and got himself into further trouble with the referee and got sent off for abusing Matthew Dyer.

Substitute Nkosinathi Nhleko came on and helped Chiefs keep the pressure on Stars late in the game.

Tshabalala should have scored a second. But in a one on one situation with Sandilands he takes too long to execute his shot and instead his weak attempt is thwarted.

Oh Congrats to Khosi for wining that game. Although I am not convinced by the way they have won, but penalty is always part & parcel of the game. To Khosi haters, guyz life is too short to always keep your fingers crossed for us to lose. You can spare your energy to grow up & worry about your kids. Shapa Khosi shapa.

On a serious note, I agree with Thabang. One win can take you to no.2 on the log in no time. It's getting exciting! And ja, referees are pathetic this season and no team is targetted.
And Papas, you've been singing my name forever. Come on man, don't you get tired of idolising me. I mean, it's ok I guess but there must be something wrong with a 49 year old father of 4 idolising a man far younger than he is!

Funny enuff, I see Cheaps haters are hiding this morning. At least with me, you know whether Cheaps win or lose, I always have something to say, which makes me the most popular blogger, most loved and hated, most checked out. "I try to see them differently but they're all the same"

Wow, while i was watching Bakistas - Man U match, I saw those Turkish fans doing the SEWELELE style man, turning and facing the stands while in their full voices. KALI boy big up to you and SAMASELE bra, you doing great.

Celtic is the only team that gives CHIEFS some serious headache when playing in Bloem, especially on the stands.

Well done to Chiefs but they still need to work on the defence. We need the likes of Fabian McCathy and Patrick Mayo to marshall the defence.Rooi's distribution leaves a lot to be desired...he has no options when in possession and that exposed Chiefs when building from the back.Chiefs must get Fabian, Rudi Isaacs,Mangoba Ngwenya and Dillon Shepperd. I rest my case!!!!

The referee, Dyrer won the match for AmaKhosi. I am not joking really, its fact. Everyone who watched the match on TV or in the stadium can attest to that. Tshabalala blatantly fouled Stantlt Kgatla but the referee waved play on; 5 seconds later Tshabalala was fouled in the 18 area and the penalty was awarded. It was a clean penalty but should the foul was awarded, there would be no penalty. Let them enjoy a top 8 spot for 24 hours before the real top 8 teams re-claim their positions.

Wow, either you are an over-the-hill old fuddy duddy or you are a kid. How do you expect even a retirement village like Naturena to bring back Mayo and Mccarthy and sign Sheppard and Ngwenya? One piece of advice. Based on your unfortunate name, break yourself into many parts and melt in the belly of the beast!

It's a pity people feel referees are on drugs when they give a penalty to Chiefs and these are the same people who were celebrating when Chiefs were robbed of 2 penalties in the MTN first leg with Ajax and 1 handball again in the second leg with Ajax and you guys were celebrating..saying it serves you right..It serves them right as well..Refereeing was a problem long time not only yesterday..When Peter Mabuza was doing his nonsense no one said anything about drugs because it was against Chiefs.

All the best Amakhosi Amahle let them say all the nonsense but were are bouncing back sooner than all the critics thought..
