Sundowns out of top three

Posted: 18 May 2008 Time: 17:42

Sundowns missed out on a top-three League finish as they went down 4-0 to Free State Stars on Sunday afternoon.

Stars’ goals were scored by Kingston Nkatha, who bagged a brace, Diyo Sibisi and Sipho Nkosi.

Nkatha’s brace were the first goals he has scored in the PSL since arriving from Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwean striker opened the scoring for Stars in the third minute, capitalising on a defensive error to shoot past Jackson Mabokgwane and then scored a second in similar fashion in the 17th minute to take the score to 2-0.

Diyo Sibisi scored the third for Stars in the 32nd minute, taking his personal tally to 13 – one short of top-scoring James Chamanga and two short of the limit Absa set on a cash prize.

Sibisi beat Downs’ off-side trap and drew Mabokgwane out of his goal before tapping home.

Nkosi closed the scoring in the 57 minute, heading home after a corner from Ruben Cloete.

Sundowns had a disappointing game, showed little commitment and barely had a shot on goal. One can only hope they show a little more heart in the Nedbank Cup final next weekend.

Free State Stars, on the other hand, showed a great fighting spirit, and with the win they finish fifth on the log.

Pretoria Callies was a team from Pretoria but not Supersport FC, they are disguising. They are actually a randburg team with office in Accre, just moved from Mnet offices. WOW, Joburg HOME Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lucas, I AM Khosi and a good sport man unlike most of Sundowns and Pirates Fans. My role models fans are Bloemfontein Celtic supportters, they really ar inspiring. You SundCakes guys are not doing justice to SunCakes, you just creating enmmity for SunCakes. Sundowns definitely never had the style this year, You can ask Free state Stars, Al Ahilal, Leopards and many more.

The Downs players must understand that playing for Downs is morethan a soccer match, it is a way of life and for them to loose like this is unacceptable! more reasons why Trapatonni should not be retained. we are a professional outfit and should act like one. Shame on all the players except the goalkeeper, barely having a shot on goal is unSundowns, guys, shape up or ship out! pathetic perfomance you dished out yesterday!

Dikgang Mabalane is finally coming home to the brazzilians, Mjomana himself has confirmed!

Congratulations to Ea lla Koto. Considering our form, I never thought we could lose a home game like that. However, Sundowns' faithful must not be demoralised by negativity. We have a final to look forward to.

Gaddafi, your name says all. You dont go around calling people stupid, because honestly, even a neautral person would see who the fool is here. Sundowns fans have been making a lot of noise over the past few weeks, while honestly, they have only showed a better run than at the beginning. They are far from being labeled the untouchables. The Sudanese boys embarrassed you, and now Stars. Even if you win the Nedbank Cup, you honestly are still far from being above the rest, because we can claim that we won the Telkom Cup, meanwhile in truth the big three flopped this season. So, stop making too much noise, because Stars really showed you that your team is useless. And stop telling me that the players were rested, because only 2 were, and i thought you guys have the 'best squad' in the league, i didnt know you only have the best 11, but the rest are useless potatoes.
