Swallows back to winning ways

Trott Moloto's first Absa Premiership game in charge of Mamelodi Sundowns ended in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Moroka Swallows at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The former Bafana Bafana mentor, leading the Brazilians in a caretaker capacity following the dismissal of Gordon Igesund on Sunday, saw his side fall to a seventh home defeat in the 2007/08 season despite taking the lead just a few minutes into the game.

Sundowns signalled their intentions early on when Peter Ndlovu's shot forced Swallows 'keeper Greg Etafia into a good save in the first minute.

And less than two minutes later the Brazilians opened the scoring, with Brent Carelse latching onto a loose ball in the penalty area, firing into the back of the net after Lerato Chabangu's shot had been parried by Etafia.

Swallows, though, did not allow the concession of an early goal to put them off and they drew level in the ninth minute, with Zambian striker James Chamanga hitting a low drive past Brian Baloyi.

The Birds, buoyed by their equaliser, went on the attack, but Mark Haskins, Alton Meiring and Patrick Mabedi all saw their efforts on goal fail to trouble Baloyi.

Sundowns responded with Oscar Ntwagae shooting wide on 20 minutes, but Baloyi was soon called into action to keep out Cecil Oersen's drive from the edge of the penalty area.

In the 36th minute the veteran 'keeper was at it again, diving to push away Chamanga's shot. A short while later Lefa Tsutsulupa tried his luck from 30 metres out and sent a powerful drive wide of Sundowns' posts, leaving the sides locked a goal apiece at the break.

The Brazilians started the second half brightly, with both Carelse and Bryan Aldave shooting narrowly wide within the first ten minutes after the restart.

However, on the hour mark, Swallows earned a penalty as Shere Lekgothoane brought Oersen down in the box. Oersen himself took the spot kick and calmly stroked the ball into the bottom left of the net to put the Birds 2-1 ahead.

Sundowns struggled to get back into the game after going behind but the visitors did need Etafia to make two good saves within a minute from Lekgothoane and Carelse.

The Nigerian 'keeper made another fine stop in the 87th minute to deny Aldave his second goal in as many games.

In the 90th minute Swallows scored again when Maimane Phiri scored with a direct free-kick leaving Baloyi well beaten.

Swallows move to 10th on 25 points, level with Bloemfontein Celtic and Platinum Stars, while Sundowns remain in a lowly 12th on 21 points.

A word of advise to Mr Motsepe. You can not expect your team to win all the games. You have made a big mistake by firing Gordon. You should have given him a chance till the end of the season. Money will not bring you results unless your players pull up their weight.

I think i SABC is takingus for a ride. We sympathised with it and during the televising rights and now its doing this shit. Who wants to watch Sundowns at 10h00 at night mare. I mean, generations is better to them than to soccer, after paying so much money to Supersports for the share, and using us to get them. shit! I feel sorry for those people who dont have DSTV. SABC is stealing your money.

Downs must just accept there are big problems you can be considering nine goals in three matches at least start with a draw. Now they are in a panic stage. I will take a good coach to bring back confidence on those guys. If the players choose the coach I wander what will happen to our football. If Sapula is not on form there is definitely no Surprise. Teams must learn finish them first half. There is no plan B.

Yesterday i went to catch a glimpse of the Motsepe Circus which was showing at the Loftus Theatre.although iam not a big fan of comedy shows i have to admit that this troupe of Acrobats,Clowns,Hitmans & Exras surely knows how to entertain their audience.
last night`s episode featured 1 Acrobat(Goalie),
4 clowns(defenders),4 Extras(Midfielders) & 2 Hitmans.
the Scriptwriters(Chueu & Moloto)to the amusement of Swallows fans & disgust of Downs fans replaced sum of the actors who performed against Wits but continued with the same now famous " CONCEDE 3" storyline.
The 4 clowns put on a perfect act of turning basic defensive duties into desperate tackles & routine clearances into penalties & goals.
The Acrobat put on a tumble & roll all over the place act(my 2yrs old son was entertained though)
The 4 Extras were doing hide & seek acts(seek being chasing Swallows shadows & hide being nowhere in space when in possesion)to put it harshly just adding up numbers & doing nothing else(except Josta Dladla who did sumthing extra but i will cum back to him later on)
Lastly the 2 comical Hitmans were joined by two other guest actors Meiring & Chamanga in a how to miss a target act.pathetic show!!
great goal by Phiri but what the hell has he been eating during the christmas break?
Well now i only see goalkeepers coaches in our league but with a 10 million bounty on offer a club should now hire a midfielders coach, backline coach & strikers coach & add them on their technical staff on the bench.imagine having Noel Cousins,Andries Mpondo & Rodney Bush or Bennet Masinga,Zane Moosa & Bricks Modau on the Swallows & Downs Benches?the players will benefit a lot.
Now back 2 Josta coincidentally after the referee`s Extra minutes while our blood levels were still Extra high Josta who was part of the Extras on the pitch did an Extra act of showing us the middle finger while entering the tunnel.now that man with the Extra money(Motsepe) should get rid of all this Extra burden players.
