Djiehoua strike beats Chiefs

Posted: 13 February 2008 Time: 21:25

Serge Djiehoua scored the only goal of the game to hand Thanda Royal Zulu FC a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership encounter at the Olympia Park Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Ironically, Djiehoua is on loan at Thanda Royal Zulu FC from Kaizer Chiefs.

Amakhosi made most of the early running and should have gone ahead in the 13th minute when Thuso Phala ran onto a long ball, but the former Silver Stars winger was harshly adjudged to have strayed into an offside position.

Barnard Parker created Thanda Royal Zulu FC’s first real chance in the 21st minute when he tested Itumeleng Khune with a long range effort, but the Chiefs keeper produced a superb save to tip the ball around the post for a corner.

Mandla Masango almost handed the hosts the lead in the 35th minute when he rose highest to latch onto a Siphiwe Tshabalala cross, but his header flew just wide of the upright.

The match remained goalless at the break.

Kaizer Chiefs started the second stanza well and went close in the 55th minute when Thuso Phala ran onto a long ball before beating his marker, but his effort from an acute angle, crashed off the crossbar.

Thanda Royal Zulu FC took the lead two minutes later when Bongani Mbhele played Djiehoua clear on goal and the striker made no mistake.

Djiehoua almost made it 2-0 in the 65th minute when he ran onto another good pass by Mbhele, but Khune produced a good save to deny the Ivorian.

Chiefs almost drew level in the 74th minute when David Obua sent his header crashing onto the crossbar from a good cross by Onismor Bhasera.

Substitute Kaizer Motaung Jnr was unlucky not to have hit the back of the net in the 86th minute when he latched onto a loose ball inside the Thanda area following their failure to clear a Chiefs corner, and the striker saw his goalbound shot deflect just past the upright off Bennett Mnguni, and with that went the final chance of the game.

Saddam, Chiefs is a big team though im not happy about their performance i know they'll come around.I stil dont understand why they recalled Mushin. The management's biggest mistake was to fire Farouk after Ted resigned, by then Chiefs was playing good futbol and all we wanted was continuty but Kaizer decided to get a new coach with new ideas and the results are there for everyone to see.

Where is Makho, may be he must recommend Doctor Khumalo and Shoes for Chiefs as he believes they are the best midfielders, better than Teko Modise (that's according to him).I don't need to remind him that Teko Modise scored a brilliant goal last nite. I think Makho must eat a humbe pie.

What a poor perfomance by CHIPS. They played like AMATURES. Even teams in VELA would beat them.

I endured 90minutes of pain watchin crap football by chips. Supersport must put age restriction on Chips games like PG18. As responsible citizens we cannot subject our kids to such trauma.....

You know what, I think we(Kaizer Chiefs) fans must organise a strike and march to Naturena before its too late and tell mushin and bobby not to play with people's emotions like this. U Jomo u zo Fuka ngathi come sunday ni zo bona. This is by far the worth team of the lot and Mushin likes to come across as an interlect, He should just F@#k O$F. Bibey Mutombo was forced by fans out of Pirates and look at them now, we should do the same. Chiefs in not a building team, we want results all the time. I will be frquenting Southgate these days, maybe i will bump into those stupid players or Mushin, then all hell will break lose i asure you. Bloody hell man!!!!

This is bad. They use to say if you r unlucky create your own lucky and Chiefs did'nt do that. Timing is needed when you are on target. Lets give credits to Royals as well as Mavusana.
