Chiefs sneak past unlucky Leopards

Posted: 23 February 2014 Time: 14:56

Kaizer Chiefs were made to sweat for their place in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup as they beat Black Leopards 1-0 at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

Knowledge Musona’s goal in the 110th minute of the match was the difference between the two sides.

There was an early chance for the home team to go in front with just five minutes on the clock.

David Zulu’s shot from just six-yards out on goal was deflected wide by a Chiefs defender with Chiefs keeper Brilliant Khuzwayo looking beaten.

Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite could have given his side the lead in the 30th minute when he was at the end of a well worked free-kick.

The tall Chiefs defender met George Maluleka’s cross at the back post and unleashed a powerful shot with his left foot that brought the best out of Leopards keeper Jacob Mokhasi.

Leopards dominated most of the match and poor decisions in the final third cost them as they let Chiefs off the hook on numerous occasions.

Five minutes before the end of the match Karabo Tshepe tested Khuzwayo when a Chiefs defenders retreated and allowed him space - he cracked a long range shot which Khuzwayo spectacularly finger tipped over the bar.

The match went into extra time and that was where the experience of Chiefs paid off over their National First Division opponents.

With just ten minutes remaining in the match Leopards shot themselves in the foot with an error at the back.

After a miscue from a Leopards defender the ball fell into the path of Tshabalala who then found Musona and the Zimbabwean international fired a shot past Mokhasi for the winning goal.

Chiefs: Khuzwayo, Gaxa, Gould, Mashamaite, Mtsweni, Katsande, Maluleka (Letsholonyane 66’), Tshabalala, Lebese, Nkosi (Rusike 87’), Mphela (Musona 65’)

Leopards: Mokhasi, Manaka, Mabotja (Ramodumo 102’), Munganga, Nyirenda, Munyai, Mumuni, Tshepe, Ntshangase (Ndebele 86’), Ndou (Amidu 69’), Zulu

Kosta Papic is not a fake, these boys are playing a similar style to the one he previously used at Pirates and they flow with ease. I see a Leopard skinning a Zebra today.

checking these BL boys carefully, you'll notice that they are on a flow.

Membaks .... true that. these BL boys just lack the last touch in the area. they want to go in the net with the ball. Bhakaniya style.

I am watching BL vs KC and thinking about the following incidents:

1. MG83 a knockout blow to Kebende cost him R50k.

2. Tsietsie Mohoa tshisa mpama to Shabba nothing.

3.Gcaba Kung Fo kick to Cele nothing.

where is consistence to PSL dealing with these kind of incidents? Its mind boggling really?.

La Coste (Khosi by Birth) ... you are 100pcnt on point, khosi. my Gcaba needed to have walked yesterday. As for consistency, the only referee that tries to live up to that is Victor Gomes - one is somehow guaranteed a red card or two in a game, albeit wrongly.

Baxter is trying by all means to fail himself and this mighty team.Everytime we plays minor teams,he plays a weak team.Gordino should have been fielded ahead of Morgan Goat.Elderly citizens like Nkosi and Shabba are selfish ,they always want to go for glory instead of feeding Mphela cos he is our target man.

What was Morgan Goat doing there stepping his leg on a fallen player. This guy is possessed,he need some deliverance.May the good lord our provider be with him
