Libya beat Zimbabwe 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out to reach the African Nations Championship final after the sides ended goalless after extra-time at the Free State Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Zimbabwe, who stopped Mali in the quarter-final, dominated the most of the 120 minutes of normal play that ended goalless. Simba Sithole, Ali Sadiki and Kudakwashe Mahachi missed scoring opportunities.

Muataz Mahde Abdelraman Fetori also came close to scoring for Libya.

During the penalty shoot-out, Libya’s Elmutasem Abushanaf, Mohamed Ghanudi, Abdelrahman fetori, Mohamed Elgadi and Mohamed Nashnush Abdula scored, while Ali Salama, Motasem Sabbou and Mohamed Abrahim Mahfud missed.

Zimbabwe goalkeeper George Chigova kept his team in the shoot-out after stopping two successive penalties, but his teammates Ali Sadiki, Milton Ncube and Peter Moyo failed to convert their chances.

Eric Chipeta, Dannu Phiri, Hardlife Zvirekwi and Patson Jaure converted for the Warriors who will now face Nigeria in play-off game.

I have to admit that since bafunny got knocked the hell out of chan by the super baby eagles, this chan tournament have grown on me big time. Its end to end action match after match, no defensive crap trying to get a draw and its how Nigeria trapped bafunny, them going all out attack while COWDON and key was trying their utmost best to scramble up a draw. Just look at bafunny when Nigeria was 3 up, they were clueless headless chickens, running around like abo family business. Now again we just saw a spectacular game of football, attack attack attack, the bondas style, and truth be told both teams are better than the bafunny that got bliksemed by Nigeria C. Now we watch the guys that bafunny can never beat, even with C teams. Its gonna be a humdinger that much is clear, no defensive kak. Once and always.

Unlucky for Zim for failing to put the ball into the back of the net. All the best when you face Nigeria.

Tzozo Buc-champ sorry to disappoint you poi, I'm proudly south African that hates mediocrity and COWDON and his chiefs bunch of useless losers (mbalula) are exactly that. I don't give a toss poi if you call me a kwereza just for hating the national team filled with bunch of useless mediocre losers, that I don't care of. And the chan tournament did get better without bafunny in it, every soccer fan can attest to that, its a reality poi that bafunny is doomed under the leadership of COWDON, also a useless loser. Once and always.

We scored a Ligit goal and Arabian referees ruled it offside, CAF is useless to say the least Arabian referees for a match involving an Arab country , This bias must come to an end Hayatou and co our time is coming when either Dan Jordaan or Kalusha will be in charge of CAF and sanity will prevail once more in African soccer
