USA and Portugal played out to a thrilling 2-2 draw in their Group G encounter at the Arena Amazonia in Manaus.

31' - CLOSE! Dempsey with a superd pass to Johnson on the left, who cuts inside and unleashes a cracking shot from the edge of the box! Just wide!

30' - Chants of "USA, USA" ring around the Arena Amazonia as the American fans urge their team on.

28' - Bradley again with an effort from range, but it's not taken cleanly, and rolls wide of Beto's left-hand upright.

26' - Dempsey worms his way into the box, but his shot goes out for America's third corner, which poses no danger in front of the Portuguese goal.

25' - Portugal spending a lot of time in their own half as the USA push high up the field in search of the equaliser. They've had the better chances of the half since Nani's early goal.

23' - CHANCE! Bradley with a strong effort from outside the box, yet it's just too high!

22' - Zusi overcooks a cross into the opposition box which evades everyone. The team in white desperate to get back in the game after going down so early.

21' - Moutinho with an ambitious strike from 30 yards which trickles out for a goal-kick.

16' - CHANCE! Dempsey with a strike on goal after a lovely-weighted pass into the box. USA win a corner, which Dempsey tamely lobs over the cross-bar.

14' - Meireles clutching his face after tumbling to ground following a strong Beckerman challenge. Meanwhile, Helder Postiga has picked up a knock, and Portugal are forced into an early change as Eder enters the field. Meireles back on.

13' - CLOSE! USA win a free-kick on the edge of the box, which Dempsey narrowly strikes over the bar!

9' - CHANCE! Fabian Johnson on his bike down the left, cuts inside and unleashes a powerful strike towards goal, which is pushed out by Beto for a corner, which is easily dealt with by the Portuguese defense.

7' - Corner Portugal, and Howard easily catches a tame header towards goal.

5' - GOAL! Veloso crosses the ball in, which US defender Geoff Cameron swipes at, but it falls at the feet of Nani who finishes from close range! 1-0 Portugal!

3' - Nani dispossesed as USA try to beak, but Ricardo Costa is there to snuff out the attack.

2' - Portugal just getting a feel of the ball, passing it around. They launch an attack down the right, but the sprinting Joao Pereira can't reach the ball as it goes out for a throw-in.

1' - And we're underway in the Amazon! USA in their customary white kit, Portugal in red.

The anthems are now being belted out...

The teams walk out to loud cheers from a packed Arena Amazonia.

The USA will be looking to continue the momentum from their first game when they snatched a late victory over African giants Ghana, while Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal go in search of their first points of the tournament after their humbling 4-0 opening loss to Germany.
