Switzerland vs France 2014 World Cup

Posted: 20 June 2014 Time: 20:23

Follow the live action as France and Switzerland look to for the win that will see them all but win Group E.

FULLTIME: What a game!! France dominate and can even afford to miss a penalty, but the Swiss come back late with two goals to lend some respectibility to the scoreline.

93 Benzema with a great finish, but the referee had blown the final whistle a second earlier. Bizarre finish!

89 YELLOW Cabaye booked - he will miss the next match

87 GOAL!! Switzerland 2 (Xhaka 87) France 5 - Great goal by the Swiss. Beautiful lobbed ball by Inler, Xhaka volleys home!

86 - Great game this - a thrill a minute. This time Shakiri with the shot, but Lloris is up to the task.

83 SUB Valbuena comes off, with Griezmann on

81 GOAL!!!! Dzemaili's long-range freekick goes straight through the wall and beats Lloris into the far corner.

76 - Benaglio pulls off three saves in quick succession from Valbuena, Pogba and Benzema. The Swiss defence is a lot like their cheese - full of holes.

73 GOAL!!!! And that's five! A quick counter sees the ball come to Benzema on the edge of the area. He perfectly weights a pass to Sissoko, who buries from a tight angle.

70 SUB Drmic comes on for the disappointing Seferovic

68 GOAL!!! Benzema runs onto Pogba's pass and slots home for his third of the tournament, but Senderos must take some blame.

66 SUB The injured Sakho to be replaced by Koscielny

65 - Great chance Switzerland! A cross from the right eludes the French defence and falls to the unmarked Mehmedi. However, his first touch is a shocker and the moment is lost.

63 SUB Vanilla Ice (Giroud) is off to be replaced by Pogba

60 - Lighting quick break from France, though Swiss are not helping their cause by giving the ball away all the time. This time it's around thieir box, and eventually it requires a block to see Benzema's goalbound shot fly over the crossbar.

58 - Better from the Swiss, but still all the efforts are from outside the box. Mind you, they are getting closer, with substitute Dzemaili flashing one just over the bar.

56 - France back on the attack through Giroud, who gets a yard of space and shoots at goal, but it's dragged just past the right-hand upright.

54 - Switzerland continue to attack, but nothing to really bother Lloris. This time Shakiri finds some space 25 yards from goals, but he drags his shot well wide.

51 - Swiss on the attack again. Slow build-up play eventually sees the balll fall to Seferovic, but again his shot is a poor one.

48 - But then they let themselves down again when Senderos gives away possession, allowing Benzema to set up Giroud. However, his shot is deflected for a corner.

47 - Good start by Switzerland as Seferovic puts a snap-shot from the edge of the area just over.

46 SUB for the Swiss as Dzemaili replaces Behrami

HALFTIME: That's the first 45 minutes done, and not a minute too soon for the Swiss, who have been completely outplayed here. France cruising, and even had the luxury of missing a penalty.

45 - Two minutes added on ...

41 GOAL!!! Quick counter-attack sees Giroud break down the right and square to Valbuena, who buries from close range

38 - France attacking down the right and Sissoko has acres of space, but his cross is too deep and the moment is lost.

36 - It's been some game here! The Swiss are hanging on, while the French are just unable to make the killer blow.

32 PENALTY MISSED!! Benzema's penalty is saved, and Cabaye hits the woodwork on the follow-up from close range. Drama!

32 - Penalty for France as Djourou stupidly trips Benzema, who was going absolutely nowhere!

30 - So close for the Swiss!!!! France give the ball away in midfield and Mehmedi fires a shot from 20 yards out which Lloris can only parry. Shakiri's follow-up wrongfoots the keeper, but it drifts inches wide.

29 - Good skill by Giroud, who takes down a high ball and hits a first time shot which flies just over.

27 - Switzerland have the ball in the back of the net when Xhaka turns home Skakiri's shot, but he (and two teammates) were offside.

25 - France really turning the screws here as Benzema goes on a powerful run and toe-pokes the ball towards the far corner, but the Swiss keeper hangs on.

22 - The Swiss look rattled here, and understandably so. One great header and one defensive error has put them firmly on the backfoot.

19 GOAL!!! Matuidi gets a second for France - two in as many minutes! A defensive error sees Benzema pick up the ball. He feeds Matuidi, who makes no mistake from a tight angle!

17 GOAL!!!! Giroud header from a corner kick. Excellent power and placement!!

13 - France with all the early possession, but so far no clear-cut chances. This time the ball falls to Cabaye, but he quite literally hits someone in Row Z.

10 SUB: Van Bergen forced to go off, with Philippe Senderos replacing him

8 - Stoppage in play as Van Bergen is down after being hit in the face following a high boot from Giroud.

6 - France with all the early pressure, and Karim Benzema curls an effort inches wide of the far-post.

4 - France with an early freekick, but the delivery is poor and straight at gopalkeeper Benaglio

France and the Swiss both won their opening games, against Honduras and Ecuador respectively

1 - And we're underway...

Olivier Giroud starts for France in a very attacking line-up

Two changes for the Swiss as the two goalscorers from the previous game, Mehmedi and Seferovic, start.

Athemns done and dusted - we're about to kick off.
