Libya reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 Chan when they fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 draw with Congo at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night.
Moise Nkounkou fired the Red devils ahead in the first half and Hardy Bingoula added a second soon after the break, but Abdelsalam Omar and Abdelrahman Fetori scored late in the second half to keep their side in the competition.
Both sides pushed for the opener in the early stages but Bersyl Obassi fired wide in the 7th minute, while Mohamed Ghanudi curled his free-kick wide at the other end two minutes later.
Libya came closing to finding the back of the net in the 24th minute when a free-kick was swung into the box, but Ahmed Kamal El Trbi sent his header just wide of the target.
Obassi did get the ball into the back of the net for Congo four minutes later but the goal was ruled out as the referee ruled that Libyan goalkeeper Mohamed Nashnush had been fouled.
The opening goal arrived in the 36th minute as Nkounkou tucked his low strike into the bottom corner and beyond the reach of the diving Nashnush.
The Red Devils extended their lead in the 54th minute as Binguila unleashed a powerful shot from well outside the box which ended up in the back of the net with the help of the inside of the upright.
Libya pulled one goal back in the 70th minute when Omar broke the offside trap to bring down a cross from Faisal Ali inside the box before placing his shot at the far post to set up a tense finish.
Congo defended comfortably and restricted Libya to speculative efforts, but the North Africans eventually made it count in the third minute of added time when Fetori netted the crucial equaliser from outside the box.
Libya finish in second place in Group C with five points, two less than group winners Ghana, while Congo have to be content with a third-place finish with four points.
