Matsatsantsa moved four points clear of Ajax Cape Town, who play city rivals Santos on Thursday evening, thanks to goals from Fikru Tefera and Katlego Mashego – his fifth in two matches.
The win means that if Ajax lose to Santos, Supersport will be crowned champions.
In truth, the home side were never in trouble in the match. Mashego created space for himself brilliantly in the box on 11 minutes, but his cross from the byline eluded Tefera six yards out, much to the disgust of coach Gavin Hunt.
But a comedy of errors in the Arrows defence allowed Tefera a clear run on goal on 19 minutes and his cool and decisive finish from the edge of the area gave the home side the lead.
Supersport felt they should have had a penalty just after the half-hour mark when Kevine Andzouana appeared to block Mashego, but referee Daniel Bennett waved play-on.
A poor throw-out from Andre Arendse almost gifted Vusumuzi Vilakazi a goal just before halftime, but the striker lifted his shot over the bar with the retreating Arendse helpless.
But Mashego continued his brilliant run of form on 57 minutes when he rifled home a shot from the edge of the area after a cushioned header from Daine Klate had set him up superbly.
Abia Nale should have pulled one back when he was put through on goal, but a lack of pace allowed Thabo September to get back and block his shot for a corner.
Elias Pelembe wasted a great chance to make it 3-0 when he received the ball with time and space and just the keeper to beat, but he inexplicably skewed his shot against a retreating defender and the ball ballooned over the bar.
And Mashego found himself in with a chance of a second when he tried to pick his spot from the angle, but saw his shot saved by Brendon Wardle.

As Mataung Jnr steps into the field Ertugral pokes him “Hey Model, what are you doing here, aren’t you suppose to be doing a photo shoot for a magazine or something?” Jnr ignores him. 29 minutes into the game Jnr scores a superb goal and goes to celebrate in Ertugral’s coaching box and say to him “Hey camera-man, I am here for a shoot, is your camera working?” Ertugral smiles and respond “You must ask that Donkey Mabuti Khanyesa, he was behaving like you when we played Sundowns but in the end I was the last man laughing”
“Oops, you are forgetting something, you are playing Chiefs and not Sundowns you idiot” responded Jnr and indeed Rooi and Nhleko scored to give Chiefs a well deserved 3-0 victory. Ertugral went home crying "This boys are back now, nxx"
