Supersport United won the ‘Pretoria Derby’ beating Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 in an exciting match played at Loftus on Saturday night.

The United goals were scored by a brace from Elias Pelembe and another goal by Bongani Khumalo while Peter Ndlovu and Josta Dladla scored for Sundowns.

The match was exciting with both sides playing attacking football especially during the second half. Both teamds had numerous scoring opportunities but poor finishing was to blame for the goal tallies not being more.

Brent Carlese tried a long-range shot in the 6th minute that was well blocked by keeper Denis Onyango.

United scored their first goal in the 37th minute when Katlego Mphela passed the ball into the area, Daine Klate flicked it onto Elias Pelembe who placed the ball in the net with a shot giving Calvin Marlin no chance.

In the 41st minute Shane Poggenpoel hammered his long-range shot over the bar.

Poggenpoel was denied from scoring a few minutes later when Marlin made a great save from his shot.

Sundowns got the equalizer in the 66th minute when Peter Ndlovu scored with a header from a cross by Josta Dladla.

Three minutes later United reclaimed their lead when Bongani Khumalo scored with a header from a Klate free-kick.

In the 70th minute Godfrey Sapula had a great chance to score from about 12-yards out but hammered his shot over the bar.

Four minutes later Sundowns equalized when Surprise Moriri passed the ball from the left, Ndlovu jumped over the ball for it to find Dladla, who scored with a shot giving the keeper no chance.

In the 78th minute Pelembe scored the winner with a shot after receiving a cross from Klate on the left.

United defended well and in the end deserved the win.

It was a spectacle exciting game to watch both teams hungry for a win. I agree with Patercias, Downs fans ought not to put pressure on the coach yet, they can still pull out of this storms phase, even though the introduction of Dladla indeed changed their fortunes he's a talented player for certain. Well done to the SS team, like us OP, the youthfull nature of their players came through, exciting Khumalo,Elias, Kleit and Katlego are a marvel to watch ... can't wait till we come across them ... GHOST FOR LIFE !!!

When Sundowns called a press conference a few days ago, I thought they were going to get rid of Gordon, but for God's sake (excuse the pun!), they missed the target and went for a Afzal. Now they have a perfect opportunity to call another conference and go for the right target!

Holla Ma-Supportas!!

I wud like to advise Mr Patrice "fire-fire" Motsepe to be just a little bit patient on firing the coach, as it is not only his team that is not doing well at the moment...Gordon, as a human being as well, he is bound to go through dust patches some times!! let's stop firing coaches after one or two loses as this doesn't take our football into greater heights!

Both Mr Motsepe and Mr Thidiela, You knew what type of coaches these gentlemen are when you signed them and i'm sure they will come alright next year as we open in January 2008; give them at least three or four more matches and then review their perfomances, then at least they will also accept that they are given at least chances to regroup the team and pick up points!!

Great Luc!

HOLD YOUR FIRE MR.MOTSEPE .fIRING GORDON WONT REMEDY THE SITUATION.THE PLAYERS ARE THE ONES LETTING US DOWN .LOSING THREE GAMES IN A ROW IS DIFFICULT TO STOMACH,BUT EMOTIONAL DECISIONS WILL BE SUICICAL .GORDON IS A GOOD COACH ,HE CANT BE A BAD COACH THREE LOSES LATER

Gordon is let down by the players, Sundowns players need to understand that beaten by Chiefs is not the end of the world. Their spirit is down and please guys come on you can still make it on the ABSA Premiership. Chiefs is lucky when it comes to Cup games than stick when you can beat them.

Its about time Motsepe realise that money cant buy anything,if there is a coach of that moment he poaches him,a player of that moment he signs him & a executive officer of that moment he employs him.then a little while down the line their moments passes & he finds himself stuck with mediocre staff who have passed their sell by date.its about time he invest in the youth.a young coach & young players 4 the future of our team.ITS ABOUT TIME WE HAVE A DEVELOPMENT STRUCTURE & PROMOTE THE YOUNGSTERS IN OUR DEVELOPMENT
