PSL Match Report: Platinum Stars 3-0 Ajax

Posted: 10 May 2014 Time: 16:26

Platinum Stars will defend their MTN8 trophy next season after clinching the final qualifying spot with a 3-0 drubbing of Ajax Cape Town in Rustenburg on Saturday.

Mogakolodi Ngele, Robert Ng’ambi and Mduduzi Nyanda got the goals at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, as Ajax ended their campaign a lowly 12th on the Premiership standings.

Stars entered the League's last round of fixtures outside of the top eight, but AmaZulu’s 3-0 loss at Kaizer Chiefs gave them the chance to leapfrog Usuthu.

Ajax only managed three shots of any worth all game as they were played off the park.

Ngele opened the scoring with a neat finish on 17 minutes to set Stars on their way and it was 2-0 seven minutes before the break as Ng’ambi confirmed his place as Dikwena’s leading scorer with a 12th goal of the season in all competitions.

It was more of the same after the recess, and after the home side were awarded a free-kick on 77 minutes, Nyanda blasted the ball home.

Nothing surprising about De Sa, always bottom half of log table if not relegation!
