Ajax Cape Town Polokwane City PSL

Posted: 28 February 2014 Time: 19:32

Roger de Sa tasted his first victory as Ajax Cape Town coach after a 2-0 win against Polokwane City at Athlone Stadium on Friday night.

The Urban Warriors scored early goals in each half, with Keegan Dolly and Nathan Paulse getting on the score-sheet.

De Sa also handed 17-year-old defender Rivaldo Coetzee his professional debut.

Ajax were the first to offer an effort at goal and it came in the shape of their Mozambican import Telinho, who fired just wide.

But they only had to wait until the fifth minute to break the deadlock. Dolly and Paulse were involved in an clever give-and-go, allowing the midfielder to fire in a low ball past goalkeeper Modiri Marumo.

Telinho had a chance to double the lead almost immediately but, again, he directed his effort wide of goal. It was all Ajax in the opening 15 minutes and their next shot at goal was a pile-driver from Abbubaker Mobara which nearly broke the advertising boards.

Polokwane’s best chance of the half cam when Galabgwe Moyana tested Anssi Jaakkola with his curling free-kick on the half-hour mark.

Ajax had their second just 10 minutes into the second half thanks to a great solo run by Paulse. Dolly won the ball back inside his own half and he played it through to the striker who ran up field, cut inside and struck a low drive to beat Marumo at the near post.

Siphesihle Nzimande and Thabo Rakhale were both thrown onto the field in hope of finding some way of making a dramatic, albeit unlikely, comeback in the encounter.

Ajax were denied their third goal when Marumo did well to get his fingertips on the end of Mosa Lebusa’s clever chip inside the box.

The win sees Ajax up into the top eight, while Polokwane dropping down to 14th spot.

Dolly.. What a talent. But I think he needs another season at Ajax before he think of a move to a big team or overseas.

Man this Keagan Dolly guy is good! He plays football the real kasi way. We have to be the ones getting him, I know Capetonians don't do well in jozi but there's really something special about this player and I'll specially thank crazy flops when it happen since they just gave him away and now wants to buy their own player back. Really! But dr khoza just have to get this guy, he'll nicely tuck into that playmaker role with no worries about defending. Awesome talent to watch doing the things that makes this game I love exciting, may it long continue in that vein. Once And Always Bucs.

Dolly is from Jhb. He is Steven Pienaar's homeboy and when he leaves Ajax he'll join Cream in Amsterdam.
