PSL match report: AmaZulu vs Platinum Stars

Posted: 27 November 2013 Time: 19:06

Goodman Dlamini scored at the beginning and the end of the match to hand AmaZulu the points against Platinum Stars.

Dlamini opened the scoring in the eighth minute when he pounced on a loose box on the edge of the penalty area to beat Siyabonga Mpontshane will a well-placed low strike.

Ayanda Dlamini could have doubled the lead in the 21st minute after he caught Tshepo Gumede in possession before running into the box, but his shot was blocked by Mpontshane.

The visitors then had two good opportunities to find the equaliser, but Mogakolodi Ngele volleyed over the crossbar in the 31st minute, while his free-kick was saved by Aubrey Mathibe three minutes later.

Both sides had chances just before the break, with Issa Sarr being denied by the upright in the 38th minute, and Njabulo Manqana drawing a great save from Mpontshane at the other end a minute later.

Usuthu had their tails up, and got the ball in the net in the 55th minute through Lunga Zondi but the goal was disallowed for offside, while Manqana fired a tame shot at Mpontshane two minutes later.

Dikwena then had two shots on target but Mathibe made two good saves, stopping Thabiso Semenya in the 58th minute, and denying Lindokuhle Mbatha at the near post a minute later.

The best opportunity fell for former Usuthu player Sibusiso Hadebe in the 70th minute, but yet again Mathibe made a crucial save.

Substitute Bongani Ndulula fired straight at the goalkeeper from Marc van Heerden’s cross in the 90th minute, but Goodman Dlamini made no mistake from a quick break four minutes later, slotting the ball into the bottom corner to seal the win.

Platinum Stars are spoilers for Chiefs. The only thing they want is the scalp of the big teams. Chiefs is now punishing Polokwane City for the sins of Platinum Stars. Eish mara!!!
