Moroka Swallows Golden Arrows PSL

Posted: 6 November 2013 Time: 19:19

Golden Arrows ended Moroka Swallows’ stay at the top of the League standings with a 2-1 win at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Abafana Bes’thende surged into a two-goal lead through a 13th-minute penalty from Thanduyise Khuboni – this after Bongi Ntuli was fouled in the area.

The striker then got his name on the scoresheet seven minutes later after beating the offside trap and firing past Greg Etafia.

The Birds pulled a goal back late on when Luvhengo Mungomeni headed home Lerato Chabangu’s free-kick in the 78th minute, but they were unable to complete a come-back despite some late pressure.

The result sees Swallows drop to third place on the log on 15 points, two behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Arrows lift themselves off the bottom of the standings, though only to second-last on seven points. Champions League finalists Orlando Pirates are now bottom, having played just three matches.

Swallows are only in league action again on November 22 when they take on Ajax Cape Town away, while Arrows face SuperSport United away from home this coming Saturday.

Old jersey or new jersey arrows shot down the birds.

I saw zebra guys cerebrating a FSS equalizer but were surprised by Surprise.

It depends on what arrangement you have with your kit sponsor. So if you have a deal that states you get one every season eg: Pirates with Adidas or every second season eg: Chiefs with Nike, then you will change your kit every year or second year. I don't think Arrows have a kit sponsor hence they are using last years kit. But either way I am happy they won.

the sponsors have a right to cancel the contract if there is no improvement in a team, teams like golden arrows are just adding numbers in the psl no trophies so sponsors will run away

I disagree sir. how many throphies did Ajax, Amazulu, Free state staters, Wits, win in the last three years, but these clubs have sponsers. i know most sponsors prefer Chiefs because of its markatebility and we decided to share with Pirates Vodacom for the benefit of SA football.

Good morale boosting win for Abafana Besthende, sponsors or no sponsors, that's irrelevant.Teams get relegated with sponsors name in their t-shirts....... eg Santos(Engen),Leopards(MTN),Chippa(Vodacom),J.Cosmos etc.

It is said tht Arrows are giving away purposely with their games to OPFC ever since an exchange of players between these two clubs started of which thts not true its just tht Arrows have not been strong enough to beat OPFC people dont want to admit OPFC's victories, thnx God Arrows has won and wish u a good come back to ur winning ways.Still Bucs.
