PSL match report: Orlando Pirates beat Black Leopards 4-1

Posted: 15 May 2013 Time: 21:26

Black Leopards face either relegation or the play-offs, after being thumped 4-1 by Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night.

Rodney Ramagalela opened the scoring for Leopards but Pirates came back, with Tlou Segolela equalising, a brace from Ndumiso Mabena and the clincher from Oupa Manyisa.

Leopards got off to a flying start, when Ramagalela sent the ball into the roof of the net from outside the box inside four minutes.

But just four minutes later Bucs were back on level terms, when Manyisa played a superb diagonal pass into the box for Segolela to nudge past the onrushing Azwindini Maphaha.

The hosts took the lead in the 19th minute, when Mabena finished with a first time shot at the near post, off a low cross from Mpho Makola.

Maphaha pulled off two great saves to keep scores level, tipping Khetowakhe Masuku’s effort over the crossbar in the 22nd minute, and denying him again six minutes later.

Ramagalela used his strength to get past Ayanda Gcaba in the 31st minute before firing a low shot, but Brighton Mhlongo, who had a great game on debut, dived to his right to keep the ball out.

The Buccaneers increased their lead two minutes later from a free-kick. Manyisa releasing Makola on the left, who crossed the ball for Mabena to finish from the centre of the penalty area.

Lidoda Duvha almost replied just before half-time but Mongezi Bobe was denied by another good save from Mhlongo before Ramagalela blazed the rebound over the crossbar.

The second half was more of the same with the Buccaneers doing most of the attacking.

Rooi Mahamutsa should have added a fourth goal on the hour mark, but after meeting a cross from Masuku he sent his header wide from close range.

Bucs wrapped the game up 20 minutes from time, when Manyisa collected a neat backheel from Mabena before placing the ball past Maphaha from just inside the box to seal a comfortable win.

With one game to play, Leopards stay bottom of the log on 23 points, with Chippa just above them on 25. Ajax Cape Town are third from bottom, on 28 points, and could still be in trouble if they lose their final match and the Chilli Boys win. Lidoda Duvha, however, cannot avoid either last place (automatic relegation) or second last (promotion/relegation play-offs).

With that perfomance, Masuku has booked himself a place in the starting XI for the Carling Cup. Hai Bhereza is an artist! It's quite amazing because not even Ronaldo is that naturally gifted. The guy just juggles the ball and spins like he is playing in his garden. Enjoyed that game!

Makola! Hai no why did Myeni not get injured sooner so we could enjoy Makola and Masuku?! His technique is just amazing. Le ko Kasi when he plays for fun you can't take the ball from his legs.

Bucs fellows, we have PHD qualification (Champs league 95) and Masters degree (Top 8 African team 2013)

Don't mind Zebras with National Certificate Qualification.

They'll always remain small boys from Natirena.

I read that if we do well in the group stages and go all the way to the final then maybe just maybe next season we might have two spots in the ACL so there is motivation to get second place after all, I'd have to go have a look at the formular they use for points. But our best be is to conquer Africa because then we will be guaranteed a place

RDS killed us this season by playing and relying on Myeni and Mbesuma too much.

Masuku is a revelation to my testimony. If it was not injuries, his talent would have never been spoted.

Crying won't help bucaneers but this lig was easy for De sa and our boys to win. While de sa was tactically poor, some of our plyers should be blamed equally. e.g. Mbesuma sometimes was not using his brains, klate was another non serious player, sfiso dessapointed de sa on numerous occasions. But it is clear that in Mbesuma and takesure, bennie we don't have strikers. Khoza should get a fresh striker, I would be happy if he can get majoro from nazoorena, or khanyeza, or someone from our development..

Masuku. NOT a player ,I want to see playing for Mighty Bucs next season, eyes down all the time, lacks vision, can't pass the ball properly, basically Not a fully developed player in my eyes and too late for him to be still developing and in a wrong Football club too.
