SuperSport draw in Angola in Confederation Cup against Petro Atletico

Posted: 17 March 2013 Time: 20:40

SuperSport United came away with a 0-0 draw with Petro Atletico in their Confederation Cup clash in Luanda, Angola today.

Matsatsantsa dominated the match, but could not convert those chances into a valuable away goal.

SuperSport kept Atletico’s attackers frustrated, setting a lot of offside traps.

Edwin Gyimah had the best chance of the half, when his shot from outside the box just before half-time went over the bar.

In the second half, Prince Hlela’s free-kick found Gyimah, but the Ghananian’s header was straight at the keeper.

On 53 minutes Petro were reduced to 10 men when Miguel was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Thabo Moloi.

On the hour mark a great through-ball by Ashley Hartog found Thabiso Nkoana but the speedy forward shot straight to the keeper.

And those two players were substituted for Sibusiso Zuma and Kermit Erasmus on 65 minutes.

The subs were straight into the thick of things, as Erasmus had a couple of shots on target, forcing a great save from the goalkeeper late on, before Zuma’s bicycle-kick hit the crossbar.

SuperSport host Atletico in the second leg on the weekend of April 5-7.

SuperSport line-up: Williams, Moloi, Diouf, September, Fransman, Hlela, Gyimah, Mdluli, Hartog, Nkoana, Nyondo

@Everyone
I don't see SSU going far in this Champions League their straight foward approach suites west african teams who are more physical than SSU. I see a west african team kicking them out of this cup.

KICK AND HOPE FC is going anywhere anyway theyr a small team.

Im told Hunt groups players according to RACE during training sessions. At SSU theres a "black South Africans squad", the "Black Africans from north of Limpopo squad" then "Cape coloured squad", then lastly " Whites squad". Im not suprised like Gordon Igesund, Gavin Hunt played for "WHITES ONLY APARTHEID TEAM" and served the SADF army where they killed blacks for fun.

0-0 is not good results for supersport.at least 2-2 or 3-3 was enough, because any draw with goals at the second leg will eliminate supersport from the competition.
