Ivory Coast and Algeria draw at AFCON 2013

Posted: 30 January 2013 Time: 21:44

Ivory Coast fought back from two goals down to draw with Algeria in a game that had very little but pride riding on it.

With the Elephants already through as group winners and the Desert Foxes already eliminated, all that was left to conclude was the group and, to be fair, both teams did it with a bit of style – though the goals only started coming towards the end of the match.

Having missed a penalty in the first half through Ryad Boudebouz, Algeria netted their first in the 64th minute through substitute Sofiane Feghouli.

Six minutes later and they made it 2-0 – Feghouli again involved as he provided the cross for Hilal Soudani to powerfully head home.

However, the Ivorians were not prepared to roll over and pulled one back via Didier Drogba’s header 13 minutes from time, and three minutes later Wilfried Bony’s deflected shot brought the scores level.

We talk too much. The game will be really serious. If Ivory Coast think it will be an easy game than they have a problem. If Nigeria they are the Super Eagles and are the best in africa.... Than Nija have a serious problem.

I am just thinking can't people like khosi fan aka thami be kicked out of this site for always being abusive? I just dont know what is wrong with some africans. I think they lack exposure and still living in the past. I find it difficult to understand why someone will come to a football site and be so stupid. I respect South Africans and have so many of them as friends here in London. I will advice you to have your head examined, I think something not right somewhere. IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW COS OF YOUR ILITERACY, THIS IS A FOOTBALL SITE. Let us enjoy it. A big congratulations to all the teams who have made it to the next stage of the competition. This is a celebration of African Soccer, we are so proud to be Africans. Also to let you know, there is no room for mediocrity in our society.

Power of football in Africa has finally shifted to the west. About 6 west African countries made quarter finals namely: Ivory Coast, Mali, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Togo and 2 south African countries South Africa, Cape Verde. Where are the northern African. I can understand why the referee was favouring Tunisia today by given them second penalty which was a controversial call. Justice was done when they lost the spot kick. I laughed when about three Togolis players ran towards the ref. after the penalty was lost.

I have no hopes. Ivory Coast will easily win the game on Sunday. But Naija won't make it that easy for them.
Good luck

khosi fan aka thami" or what they call you, can't give reasonable comment for once without abuse your fellow african?, please this is a football site and not to abuse people here. Please stop all this rubish as I hope that you are educated and not illitracy? I wish all the teams qualify best of lucks, this is a team v team and the clever one will carry the day that is all. If Ivory Coast beat Nigeria that is not the end of life it is a game and it is their time because they have been together for almost 10 years now I hope that next AFCON Nigeria may beat them again.
