Ghana beat Niger 3-0 to win Group B at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and will now face Cape Verde Islands on the quarterfinals on Saturday.
The goals were scored by Asamoah Gyan, Christian Atsu and John Boye.
The Ghanaians opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Albert Adomah found Asamoah Gyan from the right flank and he buried a low shot into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Issiaka Koudize thought he had scored three minutes later from a corner kick but Moussa Maazou was harshly adjudged to have fouled goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.
Gyan had a chance to double Ghana’s lead midway through the first half from a free-kick, but his shot was well saved by Nigers keeper Daouda Kassaly.
Chris Atsu scored Ghana’s second goal in the 23rd minute with a well-taken goal, chesting down a Gyan cross before stabbing the ball into the corner to make it 2-0.
Four minutes into the second half Ghana scored as Gyan, who was again at the heart of the goal, heading on target from a free-kick but Kassaly couldn’t hold the ball and defender John Boye swept it home from close-range, 3-0.
Niger created several scoring chances of their own, but they were unable to really test Dauda. His only notable action was a comfortable save to keep out a free-kick from substitute Boubacar Issoufou.
