PSL match report: University of Pretoria vs Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 18 May 2013 Time: 16:52

Thabo Mosadi scored to hand University of Pretoria a win over Kaizer Chiefs, who will receive the Premiership trophy after the match in a few minutes.

Amakhosi had a blistering start, and the better of the chances in the first half, but Kingston Nkhatha was woeful in front of goal.

The first real chance fell to AmaTuks in the 11th minute, when Aubrey Ngoma broke free down the left and fed Mame Niang in the box, but the Senegalese appeared clueless as he was surrounded by a few Chiefs defenders, and he lost possession as Chiefs cleared the danger.

In the 15th minute, Chiefs had their chance as Siphiwe Tshabalala put in a cross that hit a Tuks defender and fell into Nkhatha's path but he shot high.

10 minutes later, the Zimbabwean striker was put through on goal by Bernard Parker. Again, he could not capitalise and tried to slide the ball past his countryman Washington Arubi, but the latter was equal to the task.

In the 32nd minute, Nkhatha once again had a chance to score and again he failed in his attempt.

Tshabalala played a great cross in but the former Black Leopards striker mistimed his attempt, despite having acres of space, much to Josta Dladla's dismay. 'JD' appeared to confront Nkhatha for missing yet another chance.

On the stroke of half-time, Dladla had a penalty appeal, claiming to have been pushed, but it was turned down by referee Thando Nzandzeka.

The score at half-time was 0-0.

After the break, Nkhatha had the ball in the net but he was flagged offside.

The frustration was telling on the marksman's face and he was shortly given a yellow card for a foul.

AmaTuks took the lead in the 59th minute when substitute Thabo Mosadi beat the Chiefs defenders for pace to score past Itumeleng Khune.

In the 75th minute, Aubrey Ngoma outpaced Keegan Ritchie in a counter-attack situation, but Khune came off his line to make a block.

Barely five minutes later, Khune had to save Chiefs again as he blocked Ayanda Lubelo's attempt in a one-on-one situation after the latter was put through.

Towards the end, Kaizer Motaung Jnr replaced Tshabalala, who was forced off through injury. Motaung Jnr almost made an immediate impact but his overhead kick was saved by Arubi, and the match finished 1-0.

Poor reporting about score in Supersport.com. They even have a commentary on how Ritchie scored the goal. External forces at play.

RDS must go now. Thanks Roger but no thanks. You failed dismally to play decent soccer. We have been unsure about every game as to whether we would win or lose. You made Pirates look ordinary even when they have the best players in the league.
Our Mabena was in the standard of Roney, Messi and Ronaldo. You made him look like Majoro.

Disappointing display by our boys, i say.
One can just imagine what if we didn't accumulate enough points from the start of the season.
Just hoping for a better display next week @ the Nedbank Finals.

Still I have the swagger. You all know why??

I am disapointed with the performance of our team. Nkhatha must be released and a new striker and two strong middle fielder must be acquired, especially if we are serious of contending for CAF championship. Ngcobo has never got a chance of match play, he needs to be kept and be gioven a fair chance.
