PSL match report: Chippa United beat Moroka Swallows

Chippa United came from behind to win their first game under new coach Mark Harrison; 2-1 against Moroka Swallows.
It will be a welcome taste of success for the Chilli Boys, after seven losses in a row.
Bennett Chenene got Swallows off to the perfect start when he struck home with a low drive from 18 yards out, profiting from some good work by Katlego Mashego.
Chippa’s early play was scrappy and disjointed and they found themselves pinned back into their own half for most of the opening 15 minutes.
But they were to get a lifeline on the half-hour mark, when Rudiger Gilbert picked out Mbulelo Mabizela from a free kick, and the former Bafana Bafana defender powered home a header from 10 yards out.
12 minutes later the Birds were again undone by a set-piece, when Gilbert’s corner was flicked on at the near post, the ball falling to Msekeli Mvalo who scored with a diving header.
The game remained open and fast-paced after the break. Asavela Mbekile’s shot was saved by Greg Etafia, and then Lerato Chabangu’s pile-driver was pushed over the bar by Tashrique Goldman at the other end. Shortly after Goldman followed up that save with an even better one to keep out a header from Roger da Costa.
William Twala was then denied by Etafia after Chippa defender Issa Sarr had saved his side with a fine challenge in his own box.
Twala had another chance shortly after, but he elected to pass to Buyani Sali instead of shooting, and Sali’s shot was just over the bar.
The Chilli Boys were able to play out the closing stages without too many problems and Swallows failed to create any decent scoring chances.
The result leaves Chippa one point behind both Ajax Cape Town and Black Leopards on the log.
