PSL Match report: Mamelodi Sundowns draw with University of Pretoria

Posted: 17 April 2013 Time: 21:26

Mamelodi Sundowns failed to take full points at home again, with a 1-1 draw with Pretoria rivals University of Pretoria.

Richard Henyekane opened the scoring in the 51st minute before Bongani Zungu levelled 12 minutes later.

The Derby started in typical fashion, with the rivals afraid to give anything away, and both were limited to long-range efforts.

Thokozani Sekotlong, left unmarked just outside the area, had the first shot on target, but it was easily dealt with by Wayne Sandilands.

Henyekane had a good chance to take the lead on the half hour mark, when he found himself in acres of space inside the AmaTuks box, but he dragged his shot wide.

Wayne Arendse thought he had given his side the lead two minutes before the break, when he poked home after Washington Arubi spilled an Edward Manqele shot, but the offside flag was raised.

Henyekane opened the scoring six minutes after the break, after Manqele’s misdirected effort fell favourably for him, and he hit home from close range.

AmaTuks pulled level when Jabulani Shongwe’s failed clearance fell to the feet of dynamic midfielder Zungu, who made no mistake.

Mpho Maruping went close to handing Tuks the lead 20 minutes later, in his first appearance of the year, when he shook his defender before unleashing an effort that went inches wide of Sandilands’ right-hand post.

Both sides pushed forward in search of the winner, but the match ended 1-1.

The result means Sundowns stay in 11th while AmaTuks remain in ninth place.

Pitso doesn't listen this guy. Why he keeps on fielding this Shongwe who's always costing us game after game we supposed to win? Pitso, Shongwe is going to cost you a job my man. I'm telling you. Now we're battling to get into the top 8t.

I hope Manqele and Mushekwi are getting more than what they bargained for; playing good football and winning things. Enjoy the money though, but certainly not football.

Pitso needs to stop telling us that Chiefs will drop points and Pirates will win all theirs and focus on his own team

I said this before after the game against Swallows where the hooligan "Patrice Motsepe and Trot Moloto" decided to arrested Loyal and Pationate Fans of Masandawana for baying for the blood of coach Neeskins.
Let us not attend any game Sundowns play until Motsepe fires his right-hand man Mr Trot Moloto under him that team is going no-where.Again I said Pitso is not the right coach to steer Downs into right direction the man who can turn things around there is "Baba Shakes Mashaba" that team deserved to play with only opposition fans on stands until Motsepe hears our voices.

Starting line-up tells it all. We are now an ordinary team playing to stay in the premier league. Those who say we are building, what kind building is this. Build and rebuild year in year out, for more than 5 years.

Well we can only hope next season will be better for us sundowns fans, I dont know y people still blame trott moloto for sundowns woes. My view on sundowns it has good enough players that can win the league but winning mentality is not there, it remains to be seen if Pitso can bring that to sundowns. I am sure If Pitso is looking wisely, he will know which players he needs going forward and must be honest for the benefit of sundowns.

The less said about Mr Motsepe's management style the better

Pitso we are not happy, but we will give you time, Sundowns is a big team that has a special kind of football that they play, we know it's so difficult in SA to find the players that can fit to our kind of football (Piano and Shoe shine), firstly like I told you earlier this week, you still need to find a very talented Middlefielder who can settle on the ball quickly and be a good passer of the ball in the same time actually must be in the mould of Chirwali, Chancy Gondwe or Rodger Feutumba I've noticed that Teko, needs more than two touches in most cases to settle on the ball and he likes to keep the ball instead of playing at simple and that is another reason why we don't score goals, we need defenders who are comfartable on the ball so that we can start with our build up from the back, Mwanjale, Langerman, Arendse are not such kind of defenders,

well said my man, but I feel we must just give him a chance this season, hopefully he knows what he has to do and for him also he knows the culture of sundowns(he played there), I also feel although Teko is a talented player I don't think he is in the mould of a sundowns player a team such as chiefs can benefit from his talent

Shongwe did it against Supersport, against Ajax and now against Tuks. He seem to lose the ball in the dangerous areas. Its high time he improves!!
