University of Pretoria beat AmaZulu 3-1 in a League clash at Tuks Stadium on Saturday evening.
For the home side, Bongani Zungu and Mame Niang were inspirational and scored the goals that made coach Steve Barker ecstatic on the sidelines, while Goodman Dlamini netted for the visitors.
As early as six minutes in, AmaZulu had the ball in the back of the net, but it was ruled offside due to a rough challenge on Tuks goalkeeper Washington Arubi.
And it was AmaZulu who opened the scoring when in the 12th minute Arubi mis-kicked a clearance straight to Goodman Dlamini. The AmaZulu attacker hit a first time shot back towards goal and an out-of-position Arubi could do nothing to get back in time.
Then four minutes later the home side replied when Niang headed back across goal to find Zungu who dived in with his head to bury a goal past Kapini.
Niang went close to scoring in the 35th minute and just four minutes later he had another chance saved by Kapini, as the big Senegal forward became more and more of a nuisance for AmaZulu.
In the 59th minute Dipsy Selolwane and Niang played an excellent one-two combination, which saw Selolwane slide his way into the danger area and get off a shot across goal, but Kapini turned the ball around his post.
Then Niang deservedly found the back of the net. He got up really high to meet a long ball form the defence and thundered his header across goal to leave Kapini stranded.
A minute later, though, Usuthu should have scored when Goodman Dlamini fluffed his shot after doing brilliantly to make space for himself inside the area.
With twelve minutes to go, Zungu netted his second. A deep free kick was floated into the danger area and Kapini came a long way out to try and punch the ball away, but he missed the ball totally and Zungu simply flicked the ball into an empty net.
AmaTuks were fantastic and fully deserved their victory.
