Bennett Chenene scores as Moroka Swallows beat Free State Stars

Posted: 29 March 2013 Time: 20:03

Moroka Swallows continued their good form with a 1-0 win over Free State Stars at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday evening.

Bennett Chenene’s first-half goal was the decisive moment of the match as the Birds moved into the top eight for the first time this season.

Just 10 minutes into the match and the home side could have taken the lead. Tshepo Motsoeneng was nearly caught off guard when Katlego Mashego’s free-kick brushed the top of the crossbar with the keeper completely wrong-footed.

Chenene had a long-range strike saved before scoring the goal on 33 minutes through some brilliant skill – getting the ball with his back to goal before curling the ball around Motsoeneng.

Stars had their first proper shot at goal on 56 minutes when Danny Venter’s free-kick was tipped onto the bar by Greg Etafia.

Stars had an even better chance to level on 67 minutes when Roger da Costa fouled Fikru Tefera in the area. The Ethiopian striker dusted himself off to take the spot-kick, but the shot clipped the bar and went over.

Guys stop looking for errors that were committed by the editor, rather discuss the game cause we all watched it.............don just comment for the sake of it. If u don't o have something to say hold back. Back the game,,,I'm happy for Swallows. The penalty was harsh cause the ball was blasted very hard against the defender. There was no way he could have handled it deliberately. Justice prevailed when La mese missed

I must say the level of reporting here on KO is below average and the fact that you guys rely on plagiarism for match reports and never acknowledge your sources disappoints me even more.. Also the only thing that's keeping this blog alive is the Chiefs/Pirates rivalry and nothing else, hope you guys do pull up your socks and stop this nonsensical reports of yours which lacks substance and facts..Ryan Cooper I blame you for promoting COWDITORY..
