Leopards end four match losing streak

PSL match report: Black Leopards beat Golden Arrows

Posted: 6 March 2013 Time: 09:59 pm

Black Leopards broke their four match losing streak with a 2-1 win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday night.

Brian Amidu and Mogezi Bobe scored as Lidoda Duvha earned their first win in eight matches in the League.

Leopards were full of running in the first half and allowed Arrows no time or space on the ball.

Chances were few and far between, but in the 14th minute Amidu tried his luck with a volley from just inside the box, which flew over the bar.

Five minutes later Nkosiyabo Xakane let rip with a 35-yard thunderbolt, which was well saved by Nkosingiphile Gumede.

Arrows captain Thanduyise Khuboni created a rare chance for his side with a long-range effort shortly after, but it was easily saved by Azwindini Maphaha.

Three minutes later Leopards made their domination count when Amidu headed home from Edgar Manaka’s cross.

Raymond Monama should have doubled his side’s lead on the half-hour mark, after connecting with an in-swinging corner, but despite being free and clear his close-range header went over the bar.

Leopards continued to dominate in the second half, and before long Bobe doubled their lead with a clinical finish from 12 yards out, after being set up by Monama.

Arrows found a consolation goal two minutes from time through Jabulani Nene, but it was too little too late for Abafana Bes’thende.
