Platinum Stars thumped Ajax Cape Town 3-0 in Rustenburg on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Patrick Malokase, Mogakolodi Ngele and Thuso Phala handed Dikwena the win in a fantastic display of football.
The three points mean Stars overtake Kaizer Chiefs on the Premiership table, and are equal on points with leaders Orlando Pirates, second only on goal difference.
However, Bucs have a Champions League fixture this evening and thus have a game in hand.
Eight minutes into the match a long ball from goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane sent Stars on a counter attack, resulting in Malokase heading the ball to Mogakolodi Ngele, who hit a shot from range. Sean Roberts parried the attempt to his left, and the ball fell for the onrunning Malokase, who drove a shot across goal to make it 1-0.
Ajax should have equalised a quarter of an hour in, when Keagan Dolly beat the offside trap and had a shot, but it was well read by Mpontshane and saved.
On half an hour Henrico Botes almost added to his seven goal tally, after he volleyed a cross from Malokase, but the shot was blocked.
Stars doubled their lead just before half-time, after some fantastic work from the on-fire Phala and Ngele. Phala cut inside his defender and sent a through-ball between two opponenets to Ngele in the danger area, and the Botswana international made not mistake.
Ajax came close to getting one back at the start of the second half, when new signings Abia Nale Mabhuti Khenyeza combined well, but could not get a shot away.
On the hour mark Phala made it three for Dikwena when he sped away from his marker on the right and created space for himself, before hitting the ball low past Roberts with his right.
