Laffor to the rescue for Downs

Mamelodi Sundowns draw 1-1 with AmaZulu

Posted: 21 November 2012 Time: 9:27 pm

Anthony Laffor scored late on to rescue a 1-1 draw for Mamelodi Sundowns against AmaZulu – but it was not enough to move them off the foot of the table.

Andile Khumalo had given Usuthu the lead against the run of play 13 minutes from time, but Laffor was on hand to save the Brazilians’ blushes at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Downs had a great chance to open the scoring on 18 minutes when Eleazar Rodgers was put through on goal, but Philani Zikalala pulled off an easy save.

AmaZulu had a few opportunities after that – Ayanda Dlamini beating a few defenders before a great challenge by Doctor Mampuru, before the striker fired over after a great cross from Tsweu Mokoro.

Laffor had two half-chances early in the second half, but it was Usuthu hit a shock opener – Clayton Daniels’ blunder allowing Dlamini in on goal. The striker teed up Khumalo, who made no mistake.

However, Downs hit back through Laffor, who tapped in Punch Masenamela’s cross, but they could not find the winner they so desperately needed.

May be I shud buy new sun glases.

What happened to nine strikers. Poor Manqele, he so wish he made a Matoho decision. Pity he had no balz, the cajones that's why he is not scoring. But its okay, he can wait for six yes and he will be given his free clearance lyk a bo Ndlovu fake AK47, Ndlela kana gatwe Ndela, Ishmael Maluleka, Hedgekeyame, and others.

There are no longer shocks and surprises if Sundowns draw or lose. They are now just another ordinary team like Jomo Cosmos or Vasco da Gama. Judging by only 12 posts in this article, this team is a 'Has been'.

poor fat-cats, what an irony!!!!! Shame, it's clear the players are only concerned about the wallets, they don't care about the badge, if our league is going to be competitive, we need a stronger Sundowns, we need the players to bring back that fighting that was shown by the likes of Barnes, Chukwu, Chirwali, Feutmba, Mambush and co, Motsepe needs a total over-haul!

If motsepe wants a team in the first division why not buy 1 there and take his coach there other than pulling us down? Im a die hard sundowns fan but this heart breaks a lot i hav neva saw such a poor coach perfomance an still allowed to continue.

I bet it wil be so tough to get out there mark my words.

I will repeat what I said a couple week ago, Sundowns was cursed the day Motsepe joined them remember It was 2002.He promised to make Downs the best team in the continent a decade later this is where Sundowns is,he promised to take Downs to where it belongs here today this is where it belongs and he is not taking any action as the President.Sundowns are 1 of the most consitent team last season they were consitent in playing draws, this year they are consitent in losing, even their coach consitently plays the team that poorly perform week in and out with same system.Again they will be consitentl release players in January open window and swop for other players as well.Really Sundowns was cursed the day Motsepe joined them if you can go today and ask him when he wants Sundowns to conquer continent as he promised 11yrs ago he will respond "Angazi" They are the team with "No vision at all"
