University of Pretoria and Mamelodi Sundowns draw

Posted: 10 November 2012 Time: 17:24

Junior Sibande cancelled out Anthony Laffor’s early goal as the University of Pretoria held Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 draw at the Tuks Stadium on Saturday.

The draw in this Tshwane derby means that Sundowns have not won in the League in nine consecutive games and remain rooted at the bottom of the standings.

A left-footed shot by Dumisani Ngwenya from 20 yards out was saved by Sundowns keeper Wayne Sandilands, before the visitors took the lead on 15th minute when Laffor cut in from the left and with a bit of space and time he curled a brilliant shot beyond the AmaTuks keeper.

It was the Brazilians’ first goal that they have scored in a first half of a League match this season.

Tuks were keeping the discipline and shape in the middle of the park despite falling behind and, with Sundowns looking vulnerable in defence like they have done all season, they conceded the equaliser on the half-hour mark.

Sibande received a pass from Aubrey Ngoma from a short comer and hit a left-footed shot from 35 yards out which deflected off Eleazar Rodgers and into the net.

Tuks were motivated by the vocal supporters and had an opportunity to take the lead when Bongani Zungu took a shot, only to see Sandilands fingertip the effort over the bar in the 39th minute.

Downs had a chance to reclaim the lead in the 50th minute when Jabulani Shongwe - who was a having fine match orchestrating his team’s attacking moves - found space down the left, but could only hit wide of the target.

Neither team threatened much in the later stages of the match and it ended in a draw.

The so called big team is playing as I'm writing here at Orlando, their fan's attendance is less than 300. This is disgusting because they talk too much but they failing to go to stadium.

U Sundowns fans are mad, instead of worrying about ur team u busy spent ur energy on grammar and spellings. Jst pretend as if u dont see the "w" then share with the soccer lovers of this country on whats really need to happen for DTC to have a stronger opposition coz nw we are left alone while we are in need of a serious competion frm other 14 teams including aboFudu.

Our assistant coach (DK) scored the second to honour Madikgage and later on Chiefs will add some more goals at the same stadium (Madikgage's hometown) to honour the late legend, may his soul RIP.

@Bugs Killer

Frontless lost his place in Bafana only, his team is using Meyiwa as a tokolosh can't u see Meyiwa last washed himself 7 months ago?
If the current players have not learned anything from the legends then they will never learn, I hope Nkosi can see that we can stil put in DK on his position and he will still perform 100 times better than him.

Khosi until Meyiwa takes a Full bath.
