Late Chippa goal stuns Swallows

Mkhanyiseli Siwahla cancels out Lerato Chabangu's opener

Posted: 9 November 2012 Time: 9:59 pm

Moroka Swallows were held to a 1-1 draw by top-flight rookies Chippa United at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday night.

Lerato Chabangu put the Birds ahead midway through the first half, but the Chilli Boys claimed a share of the points thanks to a late goal from Mkhanyiseli Siwahla.

After a quiet start in which neither team was able to create much more than half-chances, Swallows took the lead on 23 minutes when Chabangu scored with a glancing header from David Mathebula’s free-kick.

Chippa threatened only fleetingly in the first half – one such occasion arrived in the 27th minute when Sindiso Nqothani got in behind the Swallows defence, but his first touch was poor and allowed goalkeeper Greg Etafia to smother the ball.

Chippa were dealt a major blow toward the end of the first half when Vuyisile Ntombayithethi seemed to dislocate his shoulder in a collision, resulting in his withdrawal before the interval. He was replaced by Martin Moonsamy.

The Cape side improved after the break, enjoying the torrential rain in Soweto more than their hosts, and should have brought themselves level on 58 minutes when an Etafia clearance was charged down and fell straight to Welcome Qalanto, but he rushed his attempted lob and missed the target.

Qalanto had another chance in the 82nd minute when a clever knock-down from Andile Mbenyane put the striker in on goal, but Etafia did just enough to force the Chippa player to shoot wide of goal.

On 87 minutes the Chilli Boys were rewarded for their second half endeavours when substitute Siwahla scored an excellent solo goal, skinning Shere Lekgothoane down the right before beating Etafia at his near post with a well-struck shot.

Can someone remove the crap article posted by Tiyane with predictions because the article is just a wet dream. Everything predicted there will be opposite, Chiefs will win 4-0, Gorillas will loose 3-1, Tuckshop will loose 1-0.

I think it is time Mr Macques prove to us that he is realy a good coach cos since we were knocked out of Telkom, we are not the same team, It is 4games without win, this must come to an end otherwise Zebra will walk over us which is something painfull

Mr Macques give youself 5games from now and if you Get less than 8points resign, co we are people of targets, Mr Igusand last season use to give himself 3game 5 points which was great and it was achievable, please give us yours as we want know your mandate before we judge you or we loose our patience

If you were clever enough Mr Coach you should have signed replacements for Captain, Centre back and goalkeeper but you failed to see that, when injuries stuck us, we don't have any good replace and start striping from the middle and we end lacking at the back and middle so maneer you have 4right winger: Machapa, Obada, Makhany& Mabalane and not forgeting Khumalo which you cannot field at the sametime which is useless to have, We don't need all 5 of them, we only need 2 and open space for centreback, Central Middle and a gooalkeeper and not renew Cisse, Maleka, Sibaya& Mathibe' contract as he is not adding value to the team

Nergardze should be playing in the middle as a defensive midfielder where he is most effective.
The Swallows defense is suspect, their attack minus Nomvete and Mashego fired blanks.
It's not all doom and gloom at Swallows, they will bounce back and get it right eventually.
The return of their injured players and some signings in the January transfer window to strengthen their defense will do the trick.
Maybe Ndumiso Mabena is one of the missing pieces at Swallows

That Sewahla boy if given a chance ....can be an assert at Pirates.......as for Shrek Lekgothoane he is finished. This are kind of players need at vodacom league. The other thing is that Swallows players lack composure in front goal. They all want to score. Tell me here; are there any young stars at swaiswai....ill listen on the radio

It wl dificult fr Swallows 2 play lyk dey did last seasn bcos of dis stupid coach, I am failing understand his dicision making coz He usually makes bad decisions...... Hw do u sign Mabalane if u already signed Obada n already hve Makhanya playing da same role? Mjempu's signing ws crucial coz Lekgothoane ws costing us games, yet Mjempu sits on da bench n Lekgothoane continues to irritate. A defender who cnt win da ball is not a gud defender. Why has DVD suddenly became 2nd best? Is Nomvethe going to be 2nd best when He comes back frm Injury? Why r our Best players hve to take too long now nt playing due to injuries? Are injuries new to swallows coz last season we never had players having to sit out for a very long time because of injuries? Is this not a strategy to get them out of form so that you can justify using your favourite players coach? What makes you (Zeca Marques) hate n demotivate our last season's Heroes? Is it because they know football better than you? Or is it because you hve got nothing to teach them n then jealous of their capabilities? Or may be they refuse to bring u water during training? Coach, u hve lost it n wl hardly get it right if u dont change your attitude towards players. Why did u gve Obada so many chances even though He is nt delivering? What made Mabalane suddenly became a regular in da starting line up n nt Makhanya since your step son Obada couldnt deliver? I dnt lyk your team selection criteria coach coz it is costing us games n demotivating talented players who proved their worth last season.... Trying to build your own team not help swallows at all, you will end up being lyk neeskens coz players r nt fools, they wl not play to the best of their ability for a biased coach like you. You were supposed to hve only two gud players in one position nt to sign players like mabalane just for pleasure. Why did you renew contracts for cows like maleka, Lekgothoane, Cisse, Machapa, Da Costa and Sibaya? You distinguish between excellent, gud, average, below average n bad....... I wish Prins can see wat I see in you and fire you immediately coz a coach cn nt rely on luck to make things happen for the team, such coach does nt deserve to coach in the PSL. Don't 4lo me 4lo the Birds. Nxaaaa
