Orlando Pirates ended University of Pretoria's unbeaten League run on Sunday.
The Buccaneers were stunned in the opening minutes by Tuks, but they recovered like true defending champions to score three unanswered goals and bag three valuable points.
The game started off at a slow pace with both teams testing each other in the opening minutes, before Bongani Zungu got the better of the advancing Moeneeb Josephs after receiving a pass from Siyabonga Shoyisa.
The goal sparked more life into Pirates and they started to press forward in search of the equaliser.
Collins Mbesuma and Onyekachi Okwonkwo tried their luck for the equaliser, and after a series of attacks on Tuks' defence, Pirates were rewarded when Mbesuma found the back of the net after a defence splitting pass by Sifiso Myeni.
Immediately after restart, Oupa Manyisa had a chance to hand Bucs the lead, but was denied by the diving clearance of Siyabonga Shoyisa with his goalkeeper stranded.
In the 57th minute Mame Niang watched in disbelief when his point blank header ricocheted off the upright, with Josephs and his defence well-beaten.
Pirates powered forward with an attack of their own and Ramahlwe Mphahlele was judged to have brought down Manyisa in the box.
Jali, who had been yellow carded moments before, sent Washington Arubi the wrong way from the penalty spot as the Buccaneers took the lead for the first time in the game.
Mbesuma then registered his second of the game, beating Arubi after another defence splitting pass from man of the match Myeni.
