Platinum Stars beat Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 6 October 2012 Time: 22:22

Mamelodi Sundowns' woeful recent run continued when they lost 1-0 to Platinum Stars at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.

A poor game of football was decided by a single goal from Henrico Botes, who capitalised on a Sundowns mistake to give his side the three points and deepen the crisis at Chloorkop.

The visitors might have been ahead inside the opening few minutes when Botes was sent clear on goal, but after a poor first touch his effort was saved by Wayne Sandilands.

Eleazar Rodgers should have put Sundowns ahead too as he found himself all alone at the near post from Samuel Julies' cross, but his header towards an empty net was high and wide.

Dikwena were in front on 14 minutes and it was all Sundowns' own doing. Esrom Nyandoro's first touch was terrible and Botes was allowed a free run on goal before emphatically burying his opportunity past Sandilands.

Rodgers almost restored parity with a fine 35-metre effort that was well saved by Siyabonga Mpontshane in the visitors' goal.

Stars felt they should have had a penalty when Thuso Phala was felled by Sandilands but was flagged offside. However, replays showed that the ball was played back by Sundowns defender Clayton Daniels, therefore playing Phala was onside.

The second half was disappointing and it took until 25 minutes in for the first real sight of goal, Masenamela shooting from range but Mpontshane made a comfortable save.

Substitute Anthony Laffor almost brought the home side level when his volley from Rodgers' flick went wide.

Nyandoro fired wide with a free-kick, while Nyasha Mushekwi could not get any power behind his shot.

Sundowns must have known it was not to be their evening when Rodgers' goal-bound effort was cleared off the line by substitute Enocent Mkhabela, ensuring the three points for Dikwena.

i don't think is the coach who is leting the team down but it is the manegement look where mr trotto moloto archive anything as head coach and what is the reason buying seven strikers 20 defenders even if we can say ateam need depth come on thats not a way to run ateam money does not play on the field only people sundowns you are not chelsea or real madrid or barcelona or man city you are like a team in the lowe lwer division change management and cut all players if the don't win 8games in row without draw may be it can help.

Yeah, they need to get this house in order. Its like Chiefs against them in that first 20 minutes. Nobody seems to be getting their feet on the ground. By the time they are ready to start playing, this season will be over. They need to relax and enjoy football. Forget the past games. One win and you are back. Obviously that Chiefs game gave them false confidence and everything since then went down under.

Is Motsepe's Tuckshop still going to compete against your Ntakunyisa team for the league this season? I will ask you the same question again next year in May if you will still be alive by that time.

Amatuks is here to replace Motsepe's Tuckshop on the league. I feel sorry for the 220 fans of this Tuckshop.

This ain't funny anymore, the say goes "a wise man knows when 2 draw his line" & Neeskens should draw his by now because its so pathetic 2 remain when it looks so likely that u r under sabotage. Even if these were the Rats losing like this I wouldn't find it any funnier. We as the mighty Kho6 need a fair competition & this Smirnoff sipper is robing us of this fairness as long as he remain on that yellow bench; he should go.

There is no light at the end of the tunel. Actual it's dark days for Soon-to-Flop as they are busy spiralling down - PERIOD.

Motsepe is too successful to listen to his supporters. Makhanya & Trot Moloto should have been dismissed already. I thought bringing in Nana Ntombela was going to be followed by firing the two mentioned above.

It's not the Coah's fault but the administration is in shambles. Buying players who do not fit Soon-to-FLop's profile. Turning players' heads & heart by splashing unreasonable amount of money is their down fall.

you cant build a house on a sand....sundowns does not have a strong foundation. it is built on greed, greed and greed.

running a team is not the same as running a mine. motsepe must consult bra K on football administration and running a soccer club.

bra K, must take motsepe out on a lunch just to discuss football, just for one hour, i will foot the bill.

sundowns must just benchmark with the best...chiefs.

chiefs was not established in 1937 but is administored more professionally than manchester united fc.

or else motsepe just fire yourself..period!
