A first-half goal from Mpho Maruping handed University of Pretoria their first win in the Premiership as they beat Golden Arrows 1-0 at the Cedric Sugar Ray Stadium.
The visitors had to absorb a lot of pressure in the second half to protect their lead, while they looked to stretch their advantage using counter-attacks.
The first chance of the match fell for the home side in the eighth minute as new striker Boitumelo Sekgobela used his speed and strength to get into the box from the left before playing a low cross towards Philani Shange at the far post, only for his shot to be deflected wide of the post.
As the first half went on it was the visitors who started gaining enough confidence to venture into goal scoring areas, and in the 17th minute Lionel Mutizwa saw his long-range shot curl wide of the post.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 37th minute when Arrows failed to deal with a high ball delivered into the box, allowing Maruping to head past Pavels Steinbors to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Tuks were almost gifted another goal straight after the break when Ritus Krjauklis lost the ball near his box, but a sliding tackle from Souleymane Keita stopped Dipsy Selolwane as he was about to take a shot.
Dumisani Ngwenya also had a chance to register his name in the scoresheet in the 70th minute but fired his powerful shot wide of the upright, while Dillon Sheppard's free-kick was fumbled by goalkeeper Washington Arubi two minutes later.
Arrows continued to attack without much penetration and Tuks held on for maximum points.
