Arrows beat Leopards

Abia Nale scored the only goal of the game to hand Golden Arrows a 1-0 win over Black Leopards in an Absa Premier League game at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Arrows threatened from the offset with Kagiso Senamela shooting straight at Lidoda Duvha keeper Ephraim Tjihonge just two minutes into the game.

Fischer Kondowe went close for Leopards in the 10th minute when he sent a powerful header just over the bar from a corner.

Arrows took the lead in the 39th minute when Nale scored from inside the area after latching onto a header by Vumane Mvundla following a cross by Musa Bilankulu.

Myron Shongwe almost drew Leopards on the stroke of half-time, but his header was saved by Nkosana Maseko.

The score remained 1-0 at half-time.

The visitors showed more urgency in the second half, as they searched for an equaliser, but the Arrows defence held firm, with Leopards’ first real chance arriving in the 68th minute when Kondowe met a cross by Walter Ramulondi, but Maseko produced a good save to deny the Malawian.

Nale should have doubled the hosts’ lead two minutes later following a good build-up, but the midfielder sent his effort wide from inside the area.

Although Leopards dominated the final 20 minutes of the game, they were unable to penetrate the Arrows defence, who in all fairness deserved at least a point from the game, but it was not to be as the hosts held on for a good win.
