Jomo Cosmos draw with Maritzburg United

Posted: 12 May 2012 Time: 17:34

Cuthbert Malajila broke Jomo Cosmos’ hearts as he found the equalising goal for Maritzburg United after El-Hadji Samb had given Ezenkosi the lead at the Sinaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the teams played to a 1-1 draw.

The first real chance of the match came as late as the 38th minute when Cosmos had a chance to score from a free-kick when it was drilled right-footed by Haskins, but he missed to the right.

The first half had little action as both teams were cautious and failed to take an attacking approach to the match.

Whatever Cosmos coach Jomo Sono said to the players in the changeroom worked as his side took the lead in the ten minutes after the break.

Samb’s right-footed shot from 18-yards out found the bottom-right of the net to make it 1-0 to Cosmos in the 55th minute.

In the 71st minute the visitors had Sono fuming as the Team of Choice got the equaliser. Felix Obada crossed from the left and found the head of in-form forward Malajila, who placed the ball into bottom-right corner of goal from 12-yards.

Cosmos soon went for the winner and three minutes later a right-footed shot by Siyabonga Nontshinga from 25-yards out missed to the left.

The draw means that the highest position Cosmos can get to is 15th place, which is the relegation/promotion play-off spot, but they have an inferior goal difference compared to Santos who are directly above them.

ooh well. Tuks have qualified!

Truth is we are relegated and that's not going to change. A team that wins two matches out of 30 and cannot string six passes in attack together deserves to be relegated. Cosmos has added no new dimension to the PSL, we have been at the relegation zone since our first game.

Our team sheet changed in every game we played, we lacked a game plan when going forward, we score one goal in the tenth minute and defend from there onwards. We played every game with one incapable striker, score less than a point a match, got more yellow cards than free kicks, played most of the games in our own half, we have Gerald Mtshali and Siza Dlamini as assistant coaches to Bra J, whom themselves where useless as players. We have no technical team.

I just hope Cosmos looses to Leopards as it is only fair for Leopards to remain in the league as they are doing SA proud in Africa. I love Cosmos but holycrap this team is useless now.
