Bidvest Wits continued their winless streak, but at least managed to halt their slide down the table following a 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows in KwaMashu on Wednesday evening.
Nkanyiso Mlotshwa had given the home side the lead just after the break, but Nyiko Tshabangu equalised 11 minutes from time, while Wits coach was also sent to the stands for taking his protests too far.
The home side started the better with Thamsanqa Mkhize forcing a save from Emille Baron in the ninth minute, while Clifford Ngobeni sent his shot wide ten minutes later.
The Clever Boys then responded in the 29th minute with Masibusane Zongo curling his free-kick just wide of the post, although Arrows goalkeeper Nkosingiphile Gumded could argue that he had the situation under control.
Most of the play was concentrated in the midfield with neither side able to past the defence, though Dillon Sheppard did find space to fire a shot just before the break, but Baron was able to make a comfortable save.
The game took a positive turn two minutes into the second half when Nkanyiso Mlotshwa dribbled past the wits defenders before beating Baron with a powerful long-range strike which found the top left corner.
Bongolwethu Jayiya missed a golden chance to level matters just two minutes, firing wide from the right side of the box when he had enough time to pick his spot.
Mzivukile Tom should've done better in the 57th minute when he met a free-kick from Sheppard at the far post, but somehow he sent his shot wide from close range, while Bradley Ritson shot over the crossbar at the other end a minute later.
Substitute Katlego Mashego then came close to extending his side’s advantage in the 78th minute with a well-taken free-kick which flew just over the crossbar.
The visitors then levelled matters a minute later when substitute Tshabangu buried the rebound home after goalkeeper Nkosingiphile Gumede had parried a stinging shot from Jayiya.
