Platinum Stars condemn Jomo Cosmos 4-1

Posted: 2 May 2012 Time: 21:24

Platinum Stars made Jomo Cosmos' hopes of staying in the Premiership even slimmer with a 4-1 thrashing on Wednesday.

Ezenkosi remain seven points from safety with four matches remaining, and having won just two games all season must improve if they are to save themselves.

Stars were always in control of this one, with Patrick Malokase netting a brace, and Themba Ntumi and Sibusiso Msomi also on the scoresheet. Robert Tomanyane netted a late consolation for Cosmos.

The game finished on a sour note when both sides were reduced to 10 men in the second half, Malokase getting his marching orders along with Cosmos' Ousmane Berthe.

Malokase opened the scoring with a fine solo effort as he ran through the Cosmos defence to score, before adding a second with a header from Vuyo Mere's corner.

Jackson Mabokgwane saved well from Bamuza Sono and Siyabonga Nontshinga either side of half-time, before Malokase was then shown a straight red by referee Lwandile Mfiki for a crude two-footed lunge on Vincent Kobola, which can leave him with no complaints. With just two matches remaining in the campaign, it means his season is over.

Cosmos continued to press and now with a numerical advantage were creating more chances.

Their pressure finally paid off when Tomanyane collected a pass from Nontshinga and scored from six yards.

The comeback was short-lived though, as Berthe fouled Joseph Molangoane in the area and received his marching orders, with Ntumba converting the resultant spot-kick.

Stars added a fourth deep into injury-time when Msomi smashed the ball home from the edge of the box.

Mr Sono likes defending the Mvela league trophy, I wonder how many medals poor Bamuza has, shame loyalty can be bad at times

I'm a Cosmos supporter and sad to see what is happening at the team. Team line up has changed in every game that we played. Put plainly, there is no quality in this Cosmos team. To think that our leading goal scorer only scored three goals, with two from penalty spots.

Honestly, Cosmos deserves to be relegated. I hoped Jomo would buy experienced player after seeing the impact Mark Haskins has had on the team. We failed to compete against Amazulu, Leopards, Platinum Stars, Santos and Maritzburg united. Those are the team we have to compete with in our mini-league within the PSL.

Cosmos should be relegated. I have lost all faith in this team. I'm gonna cleanse my heart and look for another team to support.

Eish sorry Postmanpat i feel ya! i believe Haskins has been out since the draw against Supersport - Jomo only has himself to blame! watching them play is like watching a school-team from the village with no technical structure. I really dont blame the players as they can only do what they guided. If the coach is clueless what do you expect from the players! Haskins should go to Chiefs as there is nothing going on in that mid-field when Yeye is out!
