AmaZulu beat Black Leopards

Posted: 22 April 2012 Time: 17:29

A poor second half performance from Black Leopards saw them lose 4-1 to AmaZulu in a League match at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The result means Leopards are now only one point above Santos in 14th place following the Cape side’s win over Kaizer Chiefs at the same time.

For AmaZulu they moved up to seven on the log with the win, jumping above Ajax Cape Town.

Neither side was overly impressive in the opening 45 minutes and some sloppy defending by Leopards saw them concede a free-kick 20-yards out from goal in the 16th minute. Mark van Heerden duly punished the home side with a superb free-kick that found the top corner.

The goal seemed to awaken the Leopards team and they quickly hit back in the 28th minute; Luyolo Mapolisa scoring from 18-yards out with a well-placed shot.

The second half saw Leopards playing the better football, but they continued to waste opportunity after opportunity in the final third of the field.

That was not the case for the visitors, who took their first chance of the second 45 when Siyabonga Thwala scored AmaZulu’s second goal of the afternoon in the 63rd minute. The goal was a bit fortuitous as Thwala saw his miss-timed shot deceive the keeper and find the back of the net.

Ayanda Dlamini virtually guaranteed AmaZulu the points in the 74th minute when he scored, before Goodman Dlamini put the result beyond doubt with Usuthu’s fourth goal in the 91st minute.

The two Dlamini's are on fire for Amazulu, but I still hope Leopards stay in the PSL. they are much better than cosmos and santos..

Amazulu is most amazing, and indeed a well deserved victory. Well done bafana. What's left now is consistency and this team will be competing for bigger things going forward!

I is now a routine to smile after every game. We are definately aiming for greater heights. We are picking the much needed points like anybody's business and we endorse our top 8 finish, if we can see off Jomo on Wednesday. I am also confident that S Sport will be our next victim in the Nedbank cup, and if we can reach the final this year and will the cup it will be a dream come true. Our coach has done a good job by taking the team into the bracket (top 8) where we belong. Hebe Usuthu

If we expelled Mnqithi early, we would be contesting the league.
