Bloemfontein Celtic beat Jomo Cosmos 2-1

Posted: 18 April 2012 Time: 21:37

Jomo Sono's woes continue as Jomo Cosmos were beaten 2-1 by Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.

Two goals in the first half from Ruzaigh Gamildien and Thokozani Mshengu secured victory for the visitors while the consolation goal, scored by Alton Meiring, was not enough to salvage a result for Ezenkosi.

It was a first half dominated by the away team and they played some free-flowing football.

Cosmos' best chance of the game came in the opening minute of the match when Bamuzo Sono fired inches wide from 12 yards out – under no pressure.

Following that early scare, Celtic found their footing in the game and started taking control of the possession stakes, while Cosmos looked shaky in defence and were only able to stop the visitors attack by conceding free-kicks.

In the ninth minute Gamildien struck a well-placed free-kick from the edge of the box round the defensive wall and into the top corner of the net to make it 1-0.

Celtic continued to dominate, but seemed unable to find the right pass in the final third.

Gamildien created the second goal through some great individual work which allowed Kgotso Moleko to find some space down the right flank where he supplied an accurate pass to Mshengu 12 yards out from goal.

Meshengu grabbed the opportunity with both hands and superbly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner of the net to double his side’s lead.

Cosmos came out renewed side in the second half, and came close in the 50th minute when Siyabonga Nhlapo tried his luck from 20 yards out, but his effort was well saved by Thabani Stemmer.

But three minutes later there was nothing Stemmer could do to stop Meiring's clinical finish from 12 yards out to pull a goal back for Cosmos.

That was as bright as the night got for the home side as they could not find the equaliser, and stay rooted to the foot of the table after their 12th defeat of the season.

Cosmos really need to address their coaching situation. The present coach has been there too long, get another coach or this dreadful yo-yo trend will continue.

Cosmos will remain in the league via the playoff system. They will finish 15th and retain their position. Santos is going down.

Open letter to Matsielele Troublemaker Sono
i have always admired and supported you since your school days. i watched you mesmerise oposition at Phiri grounds when Sekano Ntoane played orlando high School. i was there when you left Sis Gail Sono in her wedding gown and pumped three goals against Swallows. i loved when you bought highlands park and turned it into Cosmos! you have always been an "achiever" by any standard BUT currently Mjomana you have lost the plot!
This ding-dong in and out of Cosmos from th premier league dilutes all your achievements and reduces you (Sono)to a touchline failure of note. Yes you have once produced an entire squad of bafana bafna but that is now history!
I beg you to please reconsider your role by hiring expertise (local) to steer cosmomos into a winning machine on the pitch. you are facing insults that are hurting me as your number one personal fan and i cant take it no mmore!!! hire someone, be Technical director, sit amongst club owners in a suite, discuss football progress and graduate from a jean and cap wearing touchline commander! how abpout that Mjomana please man!!!

It hurta to be Cosmos fan. I'm trying to be positive but against seemingly all odds.

I pray that Santos lose their games and we can win atleast three of the remaining games and survive through the play offs. Cosmos failed to compete in the mini league I proposed before the start of the season and look at us now.

We are laughing stock of SA football instead of being the envied team.

Jomo, if he survive, for he still have a chance, Santos is not doing well, think they might be the once going down, he needs to buy quality players, he should have bought old Vhilakazi but he is not willing to bench his son, his(Jomo) pride is killing him.

Jomo Sono must fire Cosmos's coach (Jomo Sono), Kaizer Motaung must fire the Kaizer Chiefs's team manager (Bobby Motaung), David Thidiela must fire the Black Leopard's team spokes person (Tendani Thidiela)....... And then ask all these people (fired) to go find a job elsewhere... in the mean time while looking for a job... these chair persons must/will provide financial support to their unemployed family members!! hahahahaha

Oh! I forgot... Jomo Sono must also fire Bamuza and Matsilela (they are useless players) and Kaizer Motaung must also fire Kaizer Junior... There are better strikers than him at Chiefs... He is a burdan!
