Moroka Swallows beat Bidvest Wits

Posted: 4 April 2012 Time: 21:28

An own-goal by Mbulelo Mabizela and strikes from David Mathebula and Bennett Chenene helped Moroka Swallows to a 3-0 win over Bidvest Wits at the Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday night.

Before the supporters had even settled down into their seats, the Birds found the opening goal of the match; Mabizela scoring past his own keeper from six yards out.

Swallows were in confident mood and they made it 2-0 in the fourth minute. Lerato Chabangu crossed in from the right side of penalty area and Mathebula scored with a right-footed shot into the bottom corner.

The Clever Boys seemingly had no answers for Swallows’ early lead and the 15th minute they resorted to shooting from distance when Sibusiso Vilakazi drilled in a right-footed shot from over 35 yards out, but his effort was saved by Greg Etafia.

Swallows soon increased their advantaged and effectively shut the match. Chabangu was once again the provider from the right when he set up Chenene, and the left winger’s shot into the top-left corner made it 3-0 after just 22 minutes.

Ten minutes after the break Swallows captain Lefa Tsutsulupa unleashed a right-footed shot 20 yards from the right side but it went over the bar.

The Birds had the match under control but weren’t resting on their laurels and two minutes later Chabangu had a right-footed attempt from 30-yards out, but it was saved by Emille Baron.

In the 76th minute, Wits had a chance to at least get a consolation goal when Swallows defender Luvhengo Mungomeni was adjudged to have fouled Bradley Ritson in the box; but Etafia saved Sibusiso Vilakazi’s effort.

The match eventually finished with the Birds deservedly winning the contest by 3-0.

Well done Gordon!! Mathebula should be the player of the season, he is the best middlefielder who has scored 9 goals competing with the strikers who failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

Etafia, Negadze, DVD, Chenene, Loliwe(Nomvethe), Chabangu, Sibaya......These are my Heroes for Last night's results.....I am still wondering if Farouk Khan can still say the same sh!t that He said about Nergadze's abilities as a player when we beat Wits 3-1 in the first round at Bidvest stadium. Nergadze is one of the best players We hve in the Swaiswai team......I am looking forward to seeing 22 000 fans being heart broken at Dobsonville stadium on the 18th of April 2012. Only 3000 fans will walk out of Dobsonville smiling.....Shapa swaiswai shapaaaaaaaaaa.....Dnt 4lo me 4lo da Birds!!!!!!

Who is this Farouk Khan? Did he ever played soccer anyway whether Professional or Amateur in his days. According to my history I never head about such a player. Who is he to judge our player George Nergadze. He must remmember tht Nergadze scored a winning goal for us in our last game when we were fighting relegation tht goal kept us in PSL. This player plays as a midfilder but yesterday he played well at the center of defence. This Farouk Khan is talking terrorist s.hit.If he is gud soccer expect he shud train other Indians to play soccer.

People are asking that who we are( swaiswai)?Let me tell them, you can't see our faces, the only thing you must do, is to close your eyes and after we have passed next to you, then open them and see our back. This means that you will know things we did not what we will do.
