Maritzburg United and SuperSport United draw

Posted: 4 April 2012 Time: 21:42

SuperSport United stretched their goalless streak to six consecutive League games as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

Ernst Middendorp’s side was on the attack within the opening three minutes, but play was halted as Cuthbert Malajila was blown for offside.

Shu-aib Walters saw his blushes saved by the referee’s whistle following his spillage of a Mogogi Gabonamong shot in the 12th minute, while the Team of Choice saw Wayne Matle’s cross go a begging as they couldn’t capitalise 25 minutes in.

On the half-hour mark Ashley Hartog unleashed a snapshot from distance which went well over, while Danleigh Borman and Kulegani Madondo were both shown yellows two minutes later.

Thabiso Nkoana was brought on in the 58th minute to replace Jabu Maluleke in hope of adding an extra dimension of pace to the line-up, while Felix Obada did well to keep the ball in play before he sent in a dangerous cross four minutes later. Diyo Sibisi rose above two defenders but his effort whiskered wide of Fernandez’s goal.

That was the closest we got to a goal in a dull game off football, which now sees SuperSport’s goalless streak stretch past 500 minutes.

What is happening with Tshwane teams? Sun-Draws has 6 draws in 8 games. Super-draws has 6 out of 6. They all have one thing in common, the went to the NWK stadium and beat the hell out of lower division sides, that is a curse boys. Powerlines and United FC are haunting you.
